I'd say McBrearty will start all right in a 3-man FF line. It would be too big a knock to his confidence to drop him. Murphy will drift in and out of the FF line depending on how things are going at midfield.

Just read Paddy Heaney's article in the Irish News and I'd have to agree with all of it.
I've met McGuiness a few times in the last few years at weddings etc and he always seemed to talk as if Tyrone were the bench mark and Harte was the man to follow.

He seems to have taken a lot of what Mickey has done with Tyrone and installed it into his own management style.
He's still his own man with his own views but he's a strong manager who isn't scared to make the big calls.

I also think he has installed a siege mentality into this Donegal team and it suits them fine to be written off as playing an ugly style and getting the squad angry with the media so they have a point to prove.
They now have a good strong backbone of a team and have the luxury of not just being dependant on one or two players any more for scores.

I think you really could see quite a tactical battle on Sunday and I doubt you will see a high scoring open game like last week.

Thats what we thought before the game on Sunday.  Hope we're wrong again.
I have more respect for a man
that says what he means and
means what he says...

Have to agree with Heaneys article yesterday! I've train for McGuiness and you could always tell he was going to be a county manager. He's very intense and very methodical.
You might laugh at this but a few years ago he came down to our club to give a presentation on a role he would like to fulfill for our club over a few years. It was actually what some would call director of football - he wanted to come in and analyse every match on video from U-16 to Senior, make all managers accountible to someone, concentrate on getting the best out of players from youth to seniors using weight programmes and psycholgy. It was very impressive however it was ruled out on cost issues. On hindsight it may have been worth paying him than some of the senior managers we've had in recent years.

I think this type of thorughness could spell trouble for Tyrone on Sunday!

I am not surprised to hear that story Radda as he seems to have taken a very professional attitude to the whole thing. I suppose he took a lot from his sports studies.

Was it true that he turned up for an interview for the Donegal job a few years ago with his laptop and had presentations and all ready and they kinda thought he was nuts.
How long is Rory Gallagher helping him? What do ye make of him?

I see Harte is sounding wary of the Donegal FF line too. I'd be very surprised if we don't see a sweeper this weekend.

Aye, that's true all right.

I am sick of people knocking Dooher he is there on merit. His fitness levels are as good as ever and his mere presence is uplifting, Mickey picks on merit.Dooher will have a stormer on Sunday and it is a pity about Justy but we will beat Donegal. They, Donegal talk too much and they read too much about the latest fad.Just a pity they spend their time downgrading previous regimes in Donegal just to try and tell everyone how smart they are now .We will see come Sunday.Tyrone by 6 or more !

DONEGALDANNY

Have to agree with the last post about us getting a bit carried away. OK big Jim has done well so far and has the team playing as a team but are we good enough to beat Tyrone in an Ulster SEMI ? I am not too sure. Jim is very thorough in everything he does but it's easy when you have nothing else to do all day.

A good manager he is but the man is definitely bonkers!  During a few of his adventures down to the port to rip up the dance floor in Kellys in his younger days there was numerous storys to be told by him.  One went like so, I will try to recall and quote accurately!  Probably best to read in a glenties accent for effect!
"I was out one night hi, and a goth girl came up to me and said 'you look wile like Jesus'.  She wanted me spuds but she scared the life out me hi.  Ended up going back to her place and doing the bit.  She kept saying 'fcuk me Jesus, fcuk me Jesus!'Must have been some kinda sadist.  I tell ye, she rode me! she rode me! she rode me raw boy!"

Some funny stories above. I've never met McGuinness but I have heard some of the craziness he got up to as a student. Many who played with him questioned his commitment and saw him as a good time charlie. He was known as the "porn star" for reasons I'll leave to your imagination.
In later years many have seen him as a bluffer and con man as he tried to sell his football management/mesiah/guru services for nothing less than top doller. Many of his critics will have been silenced this year no doubt.

All I have to add to previous posts is one simple question; WHO HAVE DONEGAL BEATEN SO FAR THIS YEAR? Sunday will be their first real test since McGuinness took over. McGuinness runs his own sports management company so yes he spends all day every day analysing and organising... something has to go right.
Unlike Kildress above, Donegal county board have forked out large amounts of cash for McGuinness and they probably believe it has been worth it... but I again pose the question, WHO HAVE DONEGAL BEATEN SO FAR THIS YEAR?
I don't believe the hype, unless they beat Tyrone that is!

Insider info - I like it. We couldn't possibly sign up with Mark 'one belief' Conway present! lol

Bang on ck. Nothing done by this Donegal team yet. I mean we would have expected to get past Cavan and Antrim under John Joe so there's been no evidence yet of any change in our performance.
There's a lot of media attention on Donegal simply because the media (as always) are looking for new teams to break through. Understandable I suppose - we all like to see new teams doing well. I would be very happy with a respectable loss to Tyrone - one in which we fight hard and don't capitulate as we have done so many times in the past. A good run in the qualifiers and maybe an outside chance at a QF and it will have been a good first year for Jim.

Should be a home dinger of a game.

What way do you think Donegal will line out?

Also the Tyrone team?

Should be some mouth watering match ups
