i think ruling anyone out because they've been involved for the last 10 years is a bit extreme. We've some great success in the last few years under Gleeson. when i say great success, getting into leinster, getting Div 1 and staying in both is great success for us.
the people involved prior to that and during gleesons stint would surely have something to offer. i can think of some cracking coaches who were involved and would be well received.
johnny campbell and gregory to name 2!! i think we need to look internally at the best coaches we have and find a manager who can work with them & get the best from them. that has to include internal people and most certainly some of the best qualified imo have already had some time involved.

Antrim are a Joe Mc D team. That's the way it is now.

Manager trawl will reflect this.

Are there no grading lists for North Antrim GAA adult competitions? I've watched games with 5/6 players playing at higher level competitions then followed by lower level competition... senior feis into countess of Antrim - Countess of Antrim into Junior Feis. I would have thought there would be some sort of system where this wasn't allowed to happen. They used to publish grading lists a few years back but the new regime seem hell bent on covering up. I also remember rules around players not being able to play at two different levels of knockout competition.

Would be a shame to see these competitions lose integrity, or worse, die off as a result. A quick glance at the Saffrongael makes it easy to identify the crossover - seems to go unchallenged by North Antrim. Maybe they're just burying their heads in the sand.

There's grading lists surely, but depending on the club in question and available resources depends on how many you grade. And due to several balls up by the NA divisional board over the years, declining interest in this once great competition and declining numbers, there seems to be a leniency that allows ye to play across the competitions. The old way of if you played senior feis, you couldn't play down and so on, seems to have gone and with it, the integrity of the competition.
Not that will bother the current occupiers of the 'top' roles in the divisional board. They do what they want, run it like a boys club, meetings badly attended and on when they want them. And you only have to look at the debacle today where the players from Naomh Padraig and Creggan were forced to choose either playing for their club in a final or playing for their county. Madness.

And don't get us started as to why the glens feis is taken out of the actual glens never mind glenariffe. A farce.

I know of one adult team pulling out of all of their competitions next season. Answerable to nobody and zero accountability - this is where it's headed. There has to be openness and transparency regarding rules and regulations. For the past few seasons this has not been the case. Somebody needs to offer guidance or we're in bother. I've tried but it falls on deaf ears.

Armoy had a good post up about that Naomh Padraig/Creggan farce. Nothing about it was a shock.

Even in the last number of years you can see a large number of games conceded in the adult North Antrim fixtures. In the junior league Loughgeil 3rds are sitting top having only actually played 4 games.

Just look at today. Our national sport has an all Ireland semi final. What do they do, fire the feis finals on at the same time. Madness. And absolute arrogance. An absolute joke. And before the usuals come on and say 'sure offer your help' the offers are there, proposals have been made, but the bigwigs in charge know best and show complete ignorance towards others. Our way or the highway scenario. A trip to Dublin this morning from Belfast was much more appealing than a trip to Dunloy to watch reserve teams slug it out for Senior feis finals. Serious rethink needed within the whole county.

Since my post last night - two players have now started the Countess of Antrim, Junior Feis and Senior Feis Finals. Where is the accountability? Where are the competition rules? Where are the grading lists?

Sure that would make sense.

I remember looking up the graded lists a few years ago when i was going to a match in one of the North Antrim competitions. At that time they had lads graded that hadn't hurled in about 5 years. Heard stories of clubs being asked to grade ridiculous numbers too though.

The Feis weekend was held the past two years over the 11th/12th July.

The clubs asked for this to be moved away from it due to a clash with players/managments etc all going on holidays. The weekend before was suggested and agreed.

This was also cleared with Antrim GAA early in the year to keep it free from fixtures to allow all of this to be played.

Prior to this it was played in June which was also deemed not able to work according to the clubs.

It was moved to the 4th/5th. The clubs agreed to this in April.

What other weekend do you suggest would work?

The one that clashes with holidays? The one that clashes with the All Ireland football championship? the one that clashes with the U21 championship?

You cant please everyone so it has to go somehwere or do we just delete parts of our traditions and culture that doenst suit you?

All clubs have to submit grading lists before the seasons starts, similar to the all county league/championship.

Clubs grade 12 seniors who cant play intermediate comp and then a further 12 for junior comps. So Loughgiel or Cushendall have to grade 24 players for Junior feis cup for example.

Anyone outside of those can play up and down meaning a younger player can play senior feis and junior feis.

If you go down the route of cup tying players who play up you will wipe out squads very quickly in the summer time and minus county lads.

Maybe it should be higher numbers like 15 but the sole purpose of these comps is to allow games to be played - its not championship

Glenariffe hosted it the past two years. They didn't want to do it this year.

no one from the glens wanted to host it

Dunloy when asked said yes.

No great farce about it. There's a lot of work in hosting the games for three days.

It involves people having to be there at the clubs all weekend doing that work. organizing the pitches, scoreboards, cleaning up the rubbish, doing the shops etc.
