It was an enjoyable enough game, spoiled somewhat by a whistle happy referee. Conor Gormley looks to be in fairly decent shape for January, he and Gavan Teague were probably the pick of the defenders while Sean O'Neill had an absolute nightmare. Murphy and McFadden were exceptional for Donegal, both men kicked some fine scores. A fair few of Murphys points came from dead balls but his second goal was exceptional, took the ball one handed between 2 Tyrone men and drilled it to the net. His first was fisted to the net from a high ball when Mickey O'Neill came for it and got caught out. On the strength of Sunday and tonight, its difficult to know whether Harte will opt for Curran or O'Neill as the No. 3 keeper, neither man inspires much confidence on those showings
Midfield was poor, Cassidy went AWOL for long periods while Hub struggled to get into it. Donegal had about 3 or 4 marks in a row midway through the second half there didn't seem to be a man near any of them.
In attack, Penrose was exceptional when they decided to put the ball into him and he took his goals well. Wee Brian wasn't just as influential as he was last Sunday, but he looked sharp and worked hard for the duration. Tommy did alright, as did Niall Gormley. Coney got a goal with what was more or less his first touch and despite getting blocked down a few times after it he seems to have 'it' at this level.

TF, Petey got 5 minutes at the end of the game and didn't really have much of a chance to have any impact, hopefully he'll get a start on Sunday. Matty Donnelly came on in the 1st half after Mannies got a knock and Coney came on with about 10 minutes left.

Just out of interest can anyone tell me who was the last Tyrone player to get 3 goals in a game in either McKenna Cup, National League or Championship because I've gone blank?

croker

;) Last player to score  a hat trick of goals for Tyrone seniors was Mattie McGlennan on a cold winter Sunday in Croke Park n.f.l. (ON HIS BIRTHDAY) against Dublin early 90s . I was there. Memorable occasion pre Sam Maguire era!

Just like to be the first to wish the Fr. Rocks the best of luck on Sunday in their All-Ireland Semi Final in Longford against the Galway champs. One step away from croker and the biggest day in the clubs history.
What a debut season for Chris Lawn as manager.

Mannies was having a decent game and got a good score just as he took the knock.  It must have been a bad bang as he was sick 3 times on the way off?  Harte will find it hard to chose between Devlin, Niall Gormley and McCusker, he couldn't carry them all and all 3 have played well so far.  A lot of the Donegal dominance was due to O'Neill's poor kickouts.  Was looking forward to seeing him but was disappointed, still fancy him rather than Curran as no. 2/3 behind Packie.  Wouldn't blame him for first goal, I think Justin gave far too much room to Murphy who is an exceptional player.

Teague looked a bit light a gave away too many frees, maybe a bit early for him, looking forward to seeing Peter Harte on Saturday night though.  Red Sean wasn't that bad, looked jaded after Sunday and gave away a few balls but thought the ref was very sore on him.  Mattie was effective enough when he came on, showed well but needs to become more of a team player at that level.  Penros was brilliant, McGee will be havig nightmares about him.  McGinley and  Conor Gormley were poor, never really featured.
