SENIOR QUARTERFINALS

Edendork v Clonoe

Both sides impressed going forward in the opening round, but Clonoe's 2-23 against Coalisland was arguably the performance of the weekend. Edendork showed character to overcome Ardboe, although conceding 2-12 will be a concern against an even more dangerous Clonoe attack. Clonoe have returned to senior football with no fear, and if they start quickly, I can see them winning this one comfortably.

Clonoe by 6.

Carrickmore v Donaghmore

Donaghmore were very impressive against Eglish, scoring 0-24, but this represents a massive step up. Carrickmore showed exactly what they are about when they battled past Dromore. They might not always play the prettiest football, but their physicality, championship experience and refusal to panic make them extremely difficult to eliminate. Donaghmore will push them all the way, but Carrickmore should drag the game into the sort of battle that suits them.

Carrickmore by 2.

Omagh v Loughmacrory

Omagh cruised past Moortown, but they will face a completely different level of opposition here. Loughmacrory were given a serious scare by Dungannon in the original game before producing a much more controlled performance in the replay. The defending champions have the stronger structure and know how to manage championship games. Omagh may stay with them during the opening half, but I expect Loughmacrory to take control after the break and win well.

Loughmacrory by 6.

Errigal Ciaran v Trillick

Without question, the tie of the round. Trillick survived a massive scare against Galbally, edging through by a point despite conceding three goals. They cannot afford to be as open against an Errigal side that looked sharp and composed when beating Killyclogher. Trillick will try to slow the game down and turn it into a physical battle, but Errigal appear to have greater attacking depth and a stronger bench.

INTERMEDIATE SEMIFINALS

Rock v Naomh Eoghan

Rock are experienced, physical and always dangerous in knockout football, but Naomh Eoghan enter this semifinal as the Division Two league champions. They have proven themselves as the most consistent team in the division and will carry serious confidence into this game. Rock will attempt to slow the contest down and make it physical, but Naomh Eoghan have the quality and momentum to take control. The league champions should book their place in the final.

Naomh Eoghan by 4.

Cookstown v Pomeroy

This has all the makings of a proper championship battle. Cookstown possess plenty of attacking quality and will look to move the ball quickly before Pomeroy can settle into their defensive shape. Pomeroy, however, bring physicality, experience and the ability to grind out difficult results. Very little should separate the teams entering the closing stages, but Pomeroy look slightly better equipped to manage the decisive moments.

Pomeroy by 2.

JUNIOR SEMIFINALS

Tattyreagh v Fintona

With Tattyreagh losing Darcy for the semifinal, it feels like everyone has written them off before a ball has even been thrown in. Fintona will understandably enter as favourites, but championship football rarely follows the script. I can't remember the last time these two sides met in a championship semifinal, and for it to be played in Carrickmore makes it a strange but very intriguing fixture.

The key for Tattyreagh will be keeping McGillion and Colton quiet. Colton was successfully shut down against Drumragh, but McGillion is a different type of player and could be much more difficult to contain. Tatts will need a massive defensive performance, but if they remain in the contest entering the final ten minutes, all the pressure will be on Fintona. This is where I'm predicting the upset.

Tattyreagh by 1.

Stewartstown v Castlederg

Castlederg have done brilliantly to reach the semifinal and will bring plenty of energy and intensity, but Stewartstown look like the stronger and more experienced side. They possess greater attacking quality and have several players capable of producing important scores when the game becomes tight. Castlederg should make it competitive during the first half, but Stewartstown will eventually take control and pull clear after the break.

Clonoe vs. Edendork - Fancy Clonoe to overcome Edendork, even if Edendork have home advantage.
Carrickmore vs. Donaghmore - Think the solicitors have too much firepower up front, Carrickmore were in and out of the game against Dromore.
Omagh vs. Loughmacrory - Home advantage for the county champions, will account for 2 of the 15 points they are going to win by.
Trillick vs. Errigal - Game of the weekend, Errigal by the minimum.

There's no doubt they have a lot of potential after winning the G1 Minor league last year and now promotion back to Intermediate but a concern for them going forward in this campaign is that Colton has been well held now by both Urney and Drumragh.

I see where your coming from but he's still only a cub, what is he 18 or 19 or 20?, id expect him to improve next year, all be it at a higher level.

Only good thing is that man wee welshy hopefully be back next year to help lead a great campaign for the pearses and make a div 1 charge in the next few years

I think they did but the poor cub was out of his depth, if drumagh had an eoghan hegarty type of man marker it could of been a different game i think

As long as there is a scrapyard in Tattyreagh they won't be within 10 points of fintona come the final whistle. As for the Derg, write them off at your peril
