This is long, very long, but for anybody who has the spare time and patience to read it it's a quite remarkable deconstruction of Trump's speech on Wednesday and the almost unbelievably sinister, inciteful, pretty much murderous nature of it - and the very planned nature of what followed

Quite remarkable how Pence is now public enemy number one for Trumpists and if anything demonstrates the overhwhelmingly fascist nature of Trumpism, it's that

If you flick into thedonald.win, a bottomless cesspit of a forum, the extreme of the extreme are now even turning on Trump himself

Official letter from the Chairman of the Nye County, Nevada Republican Party

It goes on a lot longer than the quoted part

The purest insanity

QuoteJanuary 8, 2021
As I write to you today, I have no doubt that this letter will find many of you crushed under the weight of despair or perhaps lost in a maze of confusion. It is my hope that by the time you finish reading this letter you will be able to confidently join millions of others who support the president and another four years.

Let me be clear: Trump will be president for another four years. Biden will not be president. Yes, I know those are shocking words in these crazy days.

I have been approached by many saying, "It's over..." and "Trump conceded the election...". Nothing of the sort has taken place. Go back and listen to the videos all the way through. At no point does Trump even mention Biden's name. At no point does he say he concedes. He does say that there will be a peaceful transition to a new administration and he does say that this is only the beginning. Those phrases are important to note. Indeed, we will have a new administration made up of a new vice president and cabinet as the current ones have all made their treason complete. I will touch on this in more detail shortly.

We do well to remember that for more than four years Donald Trump has been five steps ahead of everyone in every attempt to derail him, impeach him, or confound him. For example, he announced on election night in the early hours of the morning that he "didn't want a dump of ballots at 4AM." What happened in just a few short hours at almost exactly 4AM? A huge ballot dump took place which showed that he already knew that it was going to take place. That was a public word to the enemies of our country that he was on to them. Also, consider the recent incident at the capitol building in DC. Trump was late to his speaking engagement and then spoke on a number of rehashed things to the crowd of 500K+ but this created a problem. You see, if Trump had spoken on time and briefly, the MAGA crowd would have been at the capitol building with the Antifa faction and likely would have been drawn into the fray by accident and confusion due to the crowd size. With Trump speaking late and long, the MAGA crowd was PROTECTED and SEPARATED from the Antifa groups. It would be very clear that the disguised Antifa people were 95%+ of the people in the building. Again, Trump countered because he was steps ahead of them. This was clearly a staged event meant to blame Trump supporters and try to frame Trump so the 25th amendment could be used by Congress but it failed. Nevermind the numerous videos showing the police opening the gates for Antifa (they didn't fight their way in) and then leading them throughout the building.

Parler will have to make up its mind whether it's favour of free speech or not, because free speech means assassination threats, and any assassination threats by fascists should be taken deadly seriously

Maybe arch "defender of free speech" Glenn Greenwald could weigh in here

https://www.thedailybeast.com/parler-deletes-lin-woods-posts-calling-for-pences-assassination?via=twitter_page

QuoteParler, the self-described "free speech social media network," has removed several "parleys" from Trump-loving lawyer Lin Wood that spouted baseless conspiracy theories and called for the assassination of Mike Pence. ("Get the firing squads ready. Pence goes FIRST," one such message read.) Parler CEO John Matze told Mediate the company had removed the parleys for violating its rules.

Trump tv coming to a screen near you soon and this is only speeding it up .
Also anyone who thinks Trump will resign is dreaming.

I don't think ANYONE thinks he'll resign.

Hence the articles of impeachment will be coming Monday.

He won't be convicted in the Senate, of course, but he'll deserve his place in history as only one of three presidents to be impeached, and the only one to be impeached twice.

Maybe Trump TV will come too.

However, if this week hasn't dealt a very serious blow to his brand, this country has a big f**king problem with a section of the populace.
The capitol riots damaged Trump's brand and legacy enormously. Especially because (finally) so many Republican politicians turned against him and called him out for his incitement and incessant lies. The impeachment proceedings (or even talk of impeachment) doesn't double down on that, it starts to reverse it. A pointless exercise this close to Jan 20, that helps cement Trump's current support and will bring some of what he lost back imo.

The focus should be on repeating the words of McConnell, Graham and Romney over and over. That Trump has been lying to them about electoral fraud. That every Avenue they went down was thrown out of court. To reduce the % of people who mistakenly believe the election was rigged. It's a ridiculously high number, but only that high because of Trump's lies and the lack of GOP rebuttals.
Then the relevant authorities should be working in the background over the next 6-9-12 months to build a case against Trump, so he can be locked up for any crimes that can be proven against him.

Trump is the glue holding the base to the party
As long as they were winning, McConnell and co turned a blind eye.  The GOP deserve this crisis.

This is what constitutes the party of Lincoln today.

Congratulations Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, Pat Buchanan, Pat Robertson, even Karl Rove and the likes of Mitch McConnell.

You created this monster.

Rove, McConnell, Boehner, Ryan, Cantor and all the rest of the "sane" GOP leadership of the past decade or so: you indulged the birtherism, you harnessed the bigotry, superstition and anti-intellectualism to your own ends.

Now you've got a f**king insane rabble in control of your party and threatening the stability of the country.

Trump's fascist goons shouted "Hang Mike Pence", they even had an actual gallows and rope on the scene

Had those bastards reached the chamber, they would almost certainly have killed politicians, AOC and Pelosi would likely have been literally lynched

It's an unbelievable indictment of the US body politic in general however that Trump has not already been removed from office and held in custody until his trial

The inertia and paralysis seems total, apart from shining lights of moral clarity like AOC who actually realise what is going on

Trump instigated, planned and incited that attempted fascist coup

He declared war against his own country and against democracy

A second Capitol Police officer has now died

6 dead and still no impeachment of the man who caused this, it's almost unbelievable

The historical significance of this will reverberate for decades

The GOP seem to be hoping it will fade away from the news as the days go by.

Some of them also talking about "healing", by which they mean the Dems would hinder that by Trump being held to account. See the idiotic Michael Goodwin in the NY Post.

Dems need to hold their resolve and impeach tomorrow. Should have been done this weekend.

If McConnell won't bring the Senate back, then finish to the job under Schumer after the 20th.

Can he be impeached after he leaves office?

I thought the point of impeachment was to remove someone from office

He can. To prevent him from running again. Pour encourager les autres
And this is why GA was a GOP catastrophe

There's precedent for people having been impeached after leaving office, but at cabinet level. Impacts on ability to run again, pension rights, security rights and a few other things. It could become a distraction for Biden in first 100 days but some may feel it is necessary to make the point

Jell 0 Biafra

Shouldn't take the Senate too long to rule once he is impeached by the House.  Democratic control of the Senate means McConnell can't block an issue from coming on to the floor.  And there'll either be the 17 Republicans voting to convict, or there won't.  Can't see much time being used up to persuade anyone with their mind already made up.

Trump is the glue binding Qanon and the conspiracists  to the GOP.
He is very dangerious from the POV of US Democracy .
They might decide to remove him
