Taibbi denied the obvious

And yesterday the obvious reared its head

Taibbi is still in denial

https://twitter.com/themattdimitri/status/1312665824474218496

Matt Taibbi appears on Iranian state-owned, anti-Semitic Press TV, to deny that President Donald Trump ordered Proud Boys and far-fight extremists to 'stand by,' at debate

f**k this is some craic lads... literally no shame at all complete brass neck!!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/politics/audio-trump-berates-ga-secretary-of-state-urges-him-to-find-votes/2021/01/03/aba64f5f-8c3c-490f-af34-618ccea732d7_video.html

Career ending stuff which would dominate the headlines for weeks for any other politician.

Trump... another day, another story of corruption/abuse of power/bigotry/incompetence/lying etc., etc.

Someone is going to put a list together in a couple of weeks once Trump is out and we'll see again all the malfeasance we'd forgotten about given the relentless cycle of new stuff, each more outrageous than the last, every week.

Only a couple of days ago everyone was aghast at Trump threatening the GA Secretary of State to find 12K-odd votes for him.

How trivial THAT seems now!

So have we NOW reached the bottom?

Or will Trump literally have to go out and shoot someone on Fifth Avenue?

There is no bottom

History is based on a succession of events which influence future events which influence future events

There's no telling where events can be knocked on to

But the logical end point is genocide and always is - so nobody should think that potential doesn't exist

Taibbi is the media equivalent of an internet poster who says "oh, but I have criticised Trump as well"

While in reality their whole agenda is slyly pro-Trump

He's a weasel

There's a bit more than criticism in that piece, written weeks out from an election when a good percentage of Taibbi's readership was presumably deciding which way to cast their vote in a tight election race. He tore Trump to pieces.

If that's slyly pro-Trump, I'll have whatever you're smoking.
Taibbi is a con

He'll say stuff that makes him look good

But his criticisms of Trump are always skin deep

He'll talk about Trump's "mental state" (in reality there's nothing to indicate Trump is genuinely mentally impaired), his narcissism, things like that, he'll utter shallow criticisms of Trump's racism and manner

The exact same things you'll read in the Wall Street Journal - safe criticism

Taibbi writes from a privileged white boy standpoint - what Trump has unleashed will never affect him

He's a shallow soap opera guy

But he won't do a proper dig into the structural factors around Trump, he won't dig into Trump's criminal ties and criminal past he won't dig into stuff that might really rock the boat, like how badly the Republican party is compromised

To him, Trump's racism and fascism is not really racism and fascism, it's a tiddling curiosity to be laughed at

To Taibbi, the real enemy is not Trump and the Republicans and the things that drive them like kleptocracy, white supremacism, science denial and kompromat - but Rachel Maddow, Sarah Kendzior, David Cay Johnston and Timothy Snyder, Wayne Barrett before them - people who are actually on Trump's tail for real and have a proper rounded understanding of what's going on

Initially I thought that was he was too proud to admit he was asleep at the wheel in 2016/17 about what Trump was, but now I'm not so sure, I think there may be more malign motives, I can't prove that, but I've seen nothing to make me suspect he and Greenwald have good faith motives
So no links provided to something Taibbi wrote in order to support your claim,  just Sid says 'Mat's a weasel who's slid down  deep into Trump's rabbit hole',  therefore he is.
Yes, that's exactly what he is - a weasel

Follow Taibbi and you'll find I'm absolutely correct - as I am about his fellow circle jerkers, Greenwald, Michael Tracey, Krystal Ball, Katie Halper, Jimmy Dore and Tulsi Gabbard

Read Taibbi's article linked to above - the safest, most non-challenging criticism of Trump you'll ever find

Which is exactly what he specialises in

That's the modus operandi of a weasel

Link please to an article he wrote which supports your claim. That should not be too difficult  for you, rather than me ploughing through all the stuff Matt Taibbi  wrote about Trump, media inc.  election campaigns, Wall Street bailouts, the economic divide since the days of Clinton, growing steadily through all terms of presidents since, the persecution  and criminalisation of the poorest Black citizens with petty laws, eg New York city., the 24 hour Bronx courthouses.  The switching of terms of duty for hundreds of thousands of social workers  into active fraud investigators  under the Obama presidency. Last interview with Thomas Frank.   Which article he wrote duly supports your extreme opinion?

sid waddell

Did you read my previous post Main Street?

Why did Taibbi defend what Trump said about the Proud Boys in the presidential debate?

When everybody with even a barely functioning brain knew what Trump meant? We saw yesterday exactly what it meant

Why do you think Taibbi did that?

Why do you think he took the Fox line?

And why should somebody taking the Fox line on matters of white supremacist bigotry be given the benefit of the doubt about anything, when it's a matter of the most obvious moral certitude?

Watch this from Taibbi, from today - talking to the execrable Krystal Ball - they're well matched

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oSf-kKv8hU&feature=emb_title

Pure bad faith false equivalence, both sides claptrap

A Putinist narrative if ever there was - "they're all as bad as each other"

Taibbi's narrative is that there's an equivalence between Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow or Tucker Carlson and Anderson Cooper

But there isn't - Hannity and Carlson are active fascist disinformation agents, Maddow and Cooper are not - they're actual journalists who inhabit a reality based world

CNN and MSNBC have plenty of faults - being a left/liberal equivalent of Fox is not one - their main fault is that they have offered oceans of free coverage to Trump, and particularly in CNN's case, much of it far, far too respectful and unchallenging

Yet Taibbi has been far less challenging to Trump than even the most unchallenging CNN coverage

Stuff like this YouTube clip from Taibbi provides zero insight and is designed to do just that  - it's just bland generalities designed to confuse, designed to broad brush everything - but that's simplistic snake oil

This isn't a both sides thing

One "side" is clearly way, way worse than the other

There is only one side which is trying to take down democracy and trying to incite mass race hatred, there is only one side to which facts are a mortal enemy, which has identified science as an enemy

Taibbi doesn't care about that because it doesn't affect him

This is really basic, obvious stuff, and Taibbi refuses to get it

And anybody who refuses to get the most basic, obvious stuff has to have a bad motive for not doing so - the alternative is that they are merely a moron

Taibbi's stance is pretty much the following

A two line grunt, which is about standard for you - but nice of you to admit you're written crazier things - looks like you're finally realising what you are, which is good to know

That I most certainly haven't done. And there's nothing else in your little file either, except that remark of mine that was so harmless that nobody else on that lively thread last May ever mentioned it again.

According to you, it means somehow that I'm a crazy fascist, yet you let off the lad who wanted to jail Matt Hancock.

You ARE desperate.
