Republicans got everything they deserved

The absolute level of stupidity and self awareness is mind boggling

Joe (ie Obama) played this like a pro....just let's the Republicans dig themselves into hole after hole and say nothing

Anyway, living here for close to thirty years this is just a continuation of the pattern

The Democrats are going to go way too far left and will get wiped out in two years time (assuming the Republicans actually can get their heads out of their holes).

This victory in GA could change the direction of the country for a generation. Elections have consequences and by God did Stacey Abrams show them how it's done. Trump actually had an opportunity to do a lot of good and pi$$ed it away with his absolute incompetence and ignorance

People in America know what left wing is. Anything that would be considered in the centre or even moderately to right of centre in Western Europe would be considered left.  One thing that the US body politic and the right wing media have managed to do, is move the centre point of reference or the norm, away from the middle and over to the right, meanwhile, persuading everyone that anyone to the left of that point, is really a stark raving communist. 

This is also happening in GB, and Corbyn didn't help matters.  Both himself and Ed Miliband had strong left wing support and in the case of Corbyn a strong leftie reputation.  The result was that when they presented even sensible moderate left of centre policies, they were discredited. Partly because of the leadership themselves and their reputations, and sometimes because these policies were in a bucket with a few strongly leftwing policies and everything was tarred with one brush.

Majority Leader Senator Charles Schumer of New York will have a special resonance as he surveys the wreckage of his dreams of strongmanhood.

Poor Mike Pence must be steeling himself as he kisses Mother and heads out the door. He is probably going to be on the receiving end of some Trump rage tweets before dinner time. I can imagine he'll be sending a few "go f**k yourself" glances towards the likes of Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley for planting him in this no-win mess.
