The world revolves around transgender people these days, why is it considered intolerant for people being upset when a transgender person can walk into whatever public facility they so choose to take care of business, I am sick and tired of hearing about the minuscule population of people who seem to take up much of the airwaves these days.

I disagree with the notion that they should go to whatever gender they were born into, that said they should absolutely not be allowed to go to whichever one they choose, they should be consistent in going to one or the other otherwise all facilities should be unisex in my opinion.

The left is pandering to this community but then again they pander to everybody and have no standards anymore stateside, that said the conservatives in this case are every but as bad, they need to come to the middle and work out a solution but under Bo and the gop that will never happen.

Once again stew... What should Obama have done?

Told all these people affected by the worst economic collapse in 80 years to go root around in skips for food? Or just go f**k themselves?

Would the food stamp reliance have been different under a Republican?

You do realize that there is a considerable multiplier, economically, to programs like food stamps?

They shouldn't have to go to the one they were born as but can't go to the one they choose??

How can there be a "consistent" policy?

Everyone freaks out about the muscle bound pervert in a dress heading into the ladies room for a bit of rape. What about the completely effeminate post-sex change person born as a male? They should have to use the men's room? What about the bearded transgender person who still has female genitalia and a deep voice? You want that person going in to the ladies room? What happens when some woman calls the cops? Will the transgender person with the beard have to drop trousers to show the cop there's a vagina there?

And heaven forbid that the rights of a minority be advocated for and addressed!

Fair f**ks to Bruce Springsteen on his NC cancellation BTW.

J70 American capitalism is dying. 22m families on food stamps. Fed unable to generate inflation. Richest 1% own 42% of everything.
Class war is the only thing that will change anything. the rich have to fear the people. When they do the rational concessions start rolling in. Like social security and Glass Steagal.

The transgender issue is only part of this, why should a transgender born as a woman not use a male bathroom or a vice versa? The conservative right are saying "it leads to sexual assault and harrassment" yet there is no information ... anywhere to support that this is true!

Anyway my main issue is the fact that businesses can deny service to people based on their sexual orientation!! It's sick and discriminatory and any **** who refuses to serve someone because of their sexuality should be strung the f**k up! Religious freedom my ass.

Jesus preached tolerance in the bible not discrimination and hate which is what these sick "conservative" assholes are peddling!!!

Maybe if the LGBT community turned themselves into a religion they could get more rights. If the "Christians" can worship their made up god that says they should be straight why can't the LGBT just make up one of their own and proclaim that they are also expressing their religious freedom!!!

I have no problem raising taxes on the rich or other legislation to reduce Wall Street malfeasance or reduce corporate and billionaire money in politics.

Good luck achieving that though. Even the modest reforms Obama brought in were done over a kicking and screaming GOP who will gut everything the first chance they get ( if the courts don't do it first)

Down from 47.6 million in 2013.

But then Obama temporarily increased the threshold for benefits in 2009 to include more people due to the effects of financial crisis, which is why the number is so high.

It would be remarkably stupid to point at a single figure, without context and use it as some sort of KPI for the POTUS. Digging a bit deeper, it appears that: Economists consider SNAP one of the most effective forms of economic stimulus.  Moody's Analytics estimates that in a weak economy, every dollar increase in SNAP benefits generates about $1.70 in economic activity.: http://www.cbpp.org/research/snap-is-effective-and-efficient?fa=view&id=3239

Fair play to Obama. I am glad you pointed that out. Great President is right Stew.

It happens every 2 generations or so. It needs political activism from below. And works outside the usual politics

The Fed runs Potemkin macro. It fakes

unemployment
growth prospects
inflation likelihood

Claiming 45m on food stamps as a great bunch of lads is Potemkin macro.
The wealth of the richest 1% was taken from the working class, with the Feds making up somewhat by paying food stamps. similar to the situation in the UK where workers who have had their wages slashed  get benefit credits. that is how neoliberalism works
