If the repubs were smart (the biggest 'if' in the history of ifdom) they'd get this over with as quickly as possible, accept the kind of moderate left-of-center candidate Obama would nominate, and concentrate on the election. But knowing them, they'll drag this out and continue with the self-destruct course they've been on for ages.  Either way, there is no positive outcome for them.

Oh sweet Jesus this could not be better.

Sure there is.  Republicans control both houses.  All they need to do is drag everything out as long as they can, block everything, and have President Cruz appoint an evangelical, or Trump appoint a egomaniacal.

Seriously, what's the downside for Republicans here with obstructionism? Hilary appoints a moderate liberal?  How is that worse for them than Obama appointing his choice? At least this way, they have a shot at it being their candidate that does the appointing.

Frankly I"m worried about this.

The voters are stupid, but they're not that stupid. If the repubs drag this out with their obstructionism, it'll alienate every moderate swing voter to the point where they might as well just tell Hillary to book the U-Haul now and pack her things up to move into the White House.

Antonin Scalia, the hateful, bigoted, racist, misogynist glutton of the Supreme Court, is finally on his way underground to the hell he so richly deserves. Now that the horrible sh1t of a man is gone, the stage is now set for the biggest conservative meltdown in living memory.

The President has a constitutional right to appoint a replacement, now watch as the conservative idiots in the senate try to argue that he does not, despite what the constitution says in black and white. Watch as they try to block his replacement. Watch as they try to run out the clock. The longest it has taken to appoint anyone to the court has been about 120 days. Obama has over 300 left in his term.

If they succeed, it will cause even more damage to the Republican brand right slap bang in the middle of a presidential election. President Hillary will then probably appoint Obama to the court.

If they don't, Obama will appoint a left-of-centre justice.

Either way, this is another nail in the coffin of the hateful ideology of fascism that has overtaken the GOP. The political pendulum in America is already on its way back to the left, this only confirms it. And it's about bloody time.
The GOP is lost.  Trump is the proof. The right wing tea party faction are like a parasite. They can't deliver a majority. Decent politicians live in fear of being labelled a RINO.

Fair points, but Obama should be able to make hay with this and help get the vote out and win independents again. And remember, the Republicans are the ones defending a rake of Senate seats this year. They could easily lose control of the Senate, and this issue could help.

Did you see the "debate"/shouting match the other night? Trump, who is now tacking back to the left from whence he came, stated the fact that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Audience reaction? They booed him. If there's one thing republican voters hate it's reality-based politics.

On Thursday night Clinton and Sanders debated issues like adults.

On Saturday night the Republicans shouted and called each other liars.

Just compare the Trump NH speech to the Sanders one. Sanders uses long words. Trump doesn't.
The GOP thing with Republicans in name only is nuts. I heard Lynsey Graham termed a RINO. It's like a cult.

Sanders mentioned Mossadegh in the Democratic debate. How many of the Republican candidates even know who he is?

I ran into some hardcore Hillary supporters over lunch yesterday and asked them what they thought of the primaries......were "very worried" was their response......worried about both Bernies' rise and about the prospect of Trump or Cruz being president

I didnt have the heart to tell them that as an Independent , I had already pulled a Democratic ballot and voted for Bernie under the (possibly misguided) rationale that the Republicans would have a better chance of beating him than Hillary

The Clintons are greedy. Since 2001  they have earned $153 m. Hillary is not going to make it.
