I had a few Gabe.

But mostly I'm trying to work out why rules should only apply when it suits any given team.
thewobbler, I'm not a Liverpool fan and I see where you're coming from but there's a clear difference.

The first was a pass from an opposition player. The second was a pass from an attacking player towards his own player who was offside. The grey area that seems to have arisen is the "touch" from Lovren. I saw it as him trying to reach and intercept the ball. He got a touch but I wouldn't have read that as being a backpass. I seem to recall many such decisions being given offside for the reasons outlined by blewuporstuffed.

Perhaps previous incidents were wrong but I hope this was a one-off.

It was a fair result and it was 1-1 at the time anyway so I've no issue with the outcome. Just the reasoning behind the decision.

Kane should get a three match ban for diving this week but we know that won't happen.
This kind of thing has going to continue to implications for diving are severe
Even the second pen the Spurs player manufactured the penalty when he seen VVD lift his leg he backed into and went straight down
Disappointing to hear the Spurs manager stating they were good decisions.
He obviously influences his players on these situations.
Don't think Klopp either encourages or approves of diving.
Just as Lallana should have got in the Cup against Everton but nobody wants to talk about that either.

I think plenty on here admitted that was a dive.

It's the follow up suspension I'm talking about.

blewuporstuffed

He dived so should have received a suspension, just like kane and Ali yesterday. Because they are all English they are far less likely to get criticism or punishment for it.

Yes him as well but Imm not sure it was quite as bad
But just for my two cents Suarez was brutal for it
My point is if any of them dived at any club and there was severe repercussions then none of them would be as inclined
Personally I think it should be reviewed by a committee and the clubs should get points taken off if any gained for diving in the box and the player subjected to a heavy ban.
It might not be perfect but we might see players trying to stay on their feet

You should have mentioned Calvert-lewen the Everton match prior to lallana dive as well
Bit of poetic justice to that incident. Maybe if he got a ban Lallana stays on his feet for the next match

Captain Obvious

With 12 games to play its going to be some battle between Chelsea,Tottenham and Liverpool for 3rd and 4th spot in the final table.

United still have Chelsea, City, Liverpool & Arsenal to play in the run in so i wouldn't say they are home and hosed yet either, although 5 points is a healthy advantage

I think Liverpool only have Chelsea and United left from the top 6 while Chelsea have not played any of the other teams? Cue Liverpool dropping stupid points agaisnt lower placed teams..

Niasse got a ban, the first one to be handed out. There was no difference between the incidents as far as anyone examining them would be concerned.

With Calvert-Lewin, he was running the same direction has he fell and Lovren had his hands on his back. The extent of the force used is impossible to determine and so a penalty was correctly given in my opinion. In both Niasse and Lallana's cases, the legs and arms went up in the air, from a standing position in Lallana's case, and so were clear attempts to con the ref. One was done, and the other wasn't.
