Well good result in the end but a bit disappointing in the 2nd half considering Liverpool played so well for the first 30 minutes of the game. It was like they decided 1-0 was enough at half-time and just shut up shop completely. Wasn't a fan of some of Kenny's changes which just seemed to invite pressure. Think it was more or less 5 at the back for the last half hour and 6 when Carra came on for the last 10 minutes.

Luckily we got the penalty as it looked like Hart was going to keep us out by himself like he did at Anfield. Anyway I'm sure it will be a more full-blooded affair for the 2nd leg.

Good result, poor game, half time!

Agree with all of that. Kenny got lucky.

Puke football, looks like the chance if winning a third rate cup by beating a championship side is of more value then trying to play decent football. Felt sorry for Carroll trying to play the kieran donaghy role in full forward.

Bingo

Jaysus lads, lucky  ??? He had city were he wanted them, they looked very unlikely and didn't have the players to break the defence down, he seen this and played on it. Can't see the luck it that tie, not as if city where hitting posts, pepe overly busy. Can't see how it was lucky.

Lot to do. It was a night for a result.

Lucky because he basically invited them on to lfc. His changes were designed to back off even further and in that case all it takes is a poxy deflection or set piece and it'd have been a goal. Richards header was unlucky and aguero could have scored as well and we'd be giving out. That's what I mean by lucky anyway.

Aye right - we'd rather go out and play nice football than win a trophy.

How'd that work out for Arsenal?

Both came from set pieces. I don't see how it was lucky, deflections or the like can happen at stage. I'd put it this way, it would have been massively naive to chase another or open up. He was spot on to close it down as city had little creativity, they'd gone to 3 at back to get at us and he responded in kind.

how does it work for utd, Barcelona, Kerry, Kilkenny ?
City could have been buried tonight if the pool had any conviction. Finishing with 6 defenders, a goalie and a moving statue is hardly progressive. Roy hodgson wouldn't even chance that

Are the beeb correct pool haven't been to Wembley since this?
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

More White suits called for if it's the case they get back again

Agent Orange

The FA have warned Liverpool that anybody who passes to Andy Carroll will be booked for time wasting.

God bless the hills of Dooish, be they heather-clad or lea,

Only two of the 25 teams to have won away in the first leg of a League Cup semi-final have failed to reach the final.

Were City fans shining lasers at Gerard while he was taking the penalty?
