after tonight results thats 5 defeats in 6 games not very good ehh?

Are you a idiot?

That was a great game to watch,Arsenal play some great football
Was happy with Degen and Aquaman looked good..
Could I give a f**k about the result  ??? I think not.
It was a good run out for the fringe players but there are far more important games ahead.

idiot nope

I think asking the question is the idiotic part, whether that makes you an idiot is up for discussion

Say it every year, but cannot understand some people's flipancy to this cup, especially sides that have not been blessed with silver over the last few years.

I hate seeing Chelsea lose friendlies.

If teams keep putting out sides full of kids and reserves it is difficult to take it seriously because the managers certainly don't. Chelsea are one of the few sides who actually put out strong enough teams in the Carling Cup which is to their credit I guess but they probably have the squad to do so.

it was fergie that started playing kids/reserves first in the league cup in the early 90s & he blasted in the media for doing so
his response was that he needed to rest other players for the league & champions league

teams like liverpool & arsenal shouldn't be playing kids/reserves when they haven't won anything for 4 to 5 years & of the eight teams now left only arsenal & man united will play weakened teams
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

love this picture, he's a red through and through

It isn't related to Liverpool in any way.

Lady GAA GAA

It was a personal thing with friends, rather than a sign of commitment to Liverpool.

Lady GAA GAA

No, but he has said as much in various interviews.

So they should risk injury to their first choice players, who already play twice most weeks, just to try to progress in a cup competition that means nothing and will be forgotten within a week of winning it?

Bollocks. It doesn't matter whether Liverpool or Arsenal have not won a trophy for four or five years. Getting to the latter stages of the champions league or mounting a title challenge count for far more than the league or FA cups. The only teams the league cup matters to are those who finish in the group behind the "big four" and who use it as a potential alternate route into Europe. And Chelsea apparently.

Last five league cup winners 2005 Chelsea, 2006 Man United, 2007 Chelsea, Spurs 2008 Man United 2009

Last three fa Cup winners 2007 Chelsea, 2008 Portsmouth 2009 Chelsea

Last five Premiership winners 2005 Chelsea, 2006 Chelsea, 2007 Man United 2008 Man United, 2009 Man United

so in if it wasn't for portsmouth & spurs it would have been a clean slate by chelsea & Man United, bollocks to your big four claim! spurs, villa & man city will fancy there chances to finish in the top 4 this season

And United get through to the league cup final by playing their reserves. As did Liverpool when they made the '05 final and Arsenal when they made the final a couple of years back. So apart from the fact that Chelsea play much of their first team, those stats prove nothing about the league cup except that the back-ups for the other big four teams are often good enough to make it through most of the competition. They certainly do not prove that the competition has much credibility in terms of winning it. And its no accident that Spurs made the final the past two years.

And Liverpool will make the top four. Of that I have absolutely no doubt.

Shame to lose but not too much sleep will be lost over it. Some on this thread have it up there with the world cup and the same ones would be dismissing a Carling cup win as "only the what ever its called cup" and its not enough after the money Rafa spends, every other team plays reserves, blah blah blah.

Its always nice to win but its way down list at the minute. Was actually a good game to watch. Degen showed up well again, Ngog was bright and showed some good touches. Aquaman had a great little cameo. Could have pulled a draw out of game even and extra time would have been interesting. The CB's got a bit of run round but Arsenal not the type of game for them. Spearing tried hard but Plessis looks a bit casual at times. Better to judge these two when they have a slot in a more regular midfield alongside Masch or Gerrard.

The main event is Saturday and has to be 3 points. Hopefully Aquaman will get a longer run out and Gerrard will be back onboard.

It was an excellent game last night, how good are the Arsenal kids?  Fcuk me but they knocked it around with so much confidence, what a transformation in ethos from Arsenal, 15 yrs ago they were renowned for boring staid football, now they play what is for me the most attractive football in the league. Liverpool played their part too, don't think they will be too bothered about the result especially as some of their young guns played so well too.  Voronin just looks like a porn star, he has nothing to offer.

He plays like a porn star. Thought he started well, slipped a good ball in for Ngog and then sprinted to block a ball down. After that he was far to casual and give the ball away. Him and Babel, yet again, had a chance to impress and didn't.

Re: Torres and the armband.

It actually says "We'll never walk alone".

It is in reference to a pact he had with his friends from his home town, although, he was well aware at the time where the phrase had derived from and what it meant. His friends actually got tattoos of it but he wouldn't as he didn't want to disrespect the Athletico fans, so instead he wore an armband with it written inside which was never meant to be seen but it got ripped open at a game one day.
