The blood is starting to tingle in red scousers, even though they have doubts there's a real feeling that maybe, just maybe this is the year and Stevie G, Suarez and co could land the big one..

This is different, while the squad is still thin they have managed (for most parts) to be lucky with injuries, probably good training management and better attitudes towards rest and rehabilitation. If not win the league this year they will certainly go into next years race with a better hand and more experience of staying in the top four, can onlt be good for EPL as it will generate a lot of interest if Liverpool have a chance on the last couple of weeks

Would be an incredible achievement for BR to steer Liverpool to the title this year. If the team stay relatively injury free, 3rd place is very doable. Chelsea and City have just too much purchasing power for the competition. Thats the reality. Arsenal will fall off the top 2 in the coming weeks I'd say. Its whether Liverpool can keep her lit and pip them for 3rd

But at the minute the teams will only be able to play with what they have, Liverpool avoid injuries they'll be fine , the next 5 games for all 4 teams will eventually give the teams a view of the final standings, Arsenal have the worst (5 games) out of the top four
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Its Gerrards leadership qualities that make him so indispensable, luckily hes also an intelligent quality footballer, so you'll never be carrying him.

Hes definitely a long term option at centre back, as Rodgers said.

At his age, I don't think he has a long term future in any position, particularly a new one and in terms of developing a team, you are better with a younger player in that role who will anchor the defence for years.

In terms of his 'long' term future.

understood, but was thinking more along the lines of their squads / backup / benchs etc. Chelsea have nearly 30 odd players out on loan alone who cost god knows how many millions...crazy

Liverpool at 8/1 is some value, and with the bigger teams to come to Anfield to it's worth a few bob, even each way will give you a good return

It is possible that the 'big' teams will come to Anfield and win you know!

EC, yea that is a good point you make - 'big' teams can win at Anfield.

Some 'little' teams winning at Old Trafford these days.

Get your own house in order before you start organising ours.....

I think that's a fair comment from EC. It's been quoted a lot that we have Chelsea and Citee at home and it's been taken for granted (not necessarily from Liverpool fans) we'll win both games, which is far from a forgone conclusion.

Still waiting to get my heart ripped out!

I said it weeks ago men and will say it again, Steven Gerrard is still a vital part of our team. He has been worth at this stage at least 12 points on his own this season. Yes there are others contributing massively to the team of course, but Gerrard still has the vision, leadership, calming influence and I could go on, which knits the current xi (because there isn't much past that squad wise) together on the pitch. He plays the deeper role immaculately, and it's clear what would happen if Lucas was fit, he'd be on the bench, as he has been previously this season. It's a good thing to have these problems, Liverpool need more of them because the squad isn't anywhere near as strong. You want to have a selection headache for every position, and all 7 subs to be reaching the heights of the first xi.

As for the Suarez situation, the man is a genius, of course he will have a lull in goals, he hasn't scored in 4 games, so what we are still unbeaten in that period an others have started to chip in. Imagine he hadn't scored and the rest hadn't been able to make up the deficit, we'd be fucked! Shows that everyone is taking responsibility and we don't have to rely on him for goals. Yeah there may be a selfish streak in him (more so in Sturridge though) but he is a striker, all of them have it. He isn't going to leave the club over being played slightly to the left while still picking up the golden boot and probably player of the year (voted for around now). If he leaves its because of other matters but that isn't even an issue, a non runner of a story at the moment.

Ok, hands up time, who had wrote Stevie G off this year and called for him to be benched? I was certainly one.

Shameful really. I don't think he has put a foot wrong in the last while, peno V Arsenal apart but he'll learn from that if he to continue in this role.

In a team like Liverpool that is fairly raw and lacking experienced leaders, he is really standing tall. He is getting better and better at the holding role and is a great physical presence there and is reading the game really well. He has the added bonus of been very comfortable on the ball and can therefore take it out of defence at ease.

He is one assist short of his best very PL season. These are coming regularly from dead balls and its been an area that was so wasteful for Liverpool over the years.

His penaltys - ice cool. You'd back him everything at the minute.

Second half in Istanbul, he was the one who made the difference. You get the impression he is that type of mood again and is determined to finish the league as high as possible.

Is his greatest moments still ahead of him?

along with Hamann

Personally i thought the switch to bring in Hamann changed the game completely and Hamann never really got the recognition that Gerard did for the second half. Carragher's influence wasn't minor either.
That's just, like your opinion man.

If and when the team fall short of expectation will Rodgers new obsession with his image and sparkling white teeth be blamed?    Small margins etc...
