Comedy movie genre has been crap for years

Went to see it as well, very silly and tremendous fun.
That's good to hear. I honestly can't remember the last time I was at the cinema for a genuinely funny comedy.

Mourne Red

Stuck 28 Years Later on the firestick last night. Solid film imo, The wee fella, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fienes excellent in it. Ending was a bit bizarre but suppose sequel next year will explain it

I watched a movie last night called Abraham's boys, if I said anything other than it's vampire themed, I'd risk a spoiler. I thought it was surprisingly very good. It stars Bosch- Titus Welliver.

Also went to the cinema to see the new Naked Gun during the week, some good chortles but as someone who watches this type of comedy all the time and on repeat, you could see them all coming, so not overly wowed but not overly disappointed.

Capt Pat

Saltburn is on rte one tonight after the nine o clock news. An interesting choice for sunday night in Ireland even in 2025.

Yeah just turned onto the grave bit 🤭

Rewatched Lion this eve, great show and story

Orior

I watched Happy Happy Gilmore II last night. Whoever thought it was a good idea needs a really good kicking. Terrible.

This evening I watched The Thicket. Bizarrely, brutal killer Juliette Lewis decided to use the same voice as Nurse Charlotte Diesel from High Anxiety.
Cover me in chocolate and feed me to the lesbians

Mourne Red

Anyone been to see Weapons? Josh Brolin in it, apparently it's very good

I expected a standard, predictable Happy Gilmore 2 but the second half of that film was the biggest, most stupid shite ever.

It was the most depressing shite I have watched It was that bad I stopped watching it half way through and had a listen to Radiohead to cheer myself up. A week later went back to it, there were some ha ha moments but nothing memorable. The same joke with the drinking alcohol or whatever out of almost every prop given to him was mind numbingly boring. It felt like it was Sandler's last movie and probably for the best if it is.

lurganblue

The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix.  I enjoyed this one.  Easy viewing, a decent story and a good cast.

Some people who have read the books are not impressed I believe. I was happy enough.

Started it last night. Where do we find a retirement home like that?

I have the first 3 of the books, I thought it was good. The Helen Mirren character maybe a bit more over zealous on TV, didn't buy Brosnan as Ron.

It's hard to buy Brosnan as anyone as he can't do accents. Including Irish!
