Premier Emperor

Leahy knew how to look after himself, but he was primarily a player who relied on skill.

A millionaire lifestyle

Baling Twine

Augusta National, the K Club, Mount Juliet, skiing in the Swiss Alps, the Super Bowl. The bills for these can run up.
As P Flynn once said 'you should try it some time'.

He'd a mouth like an open sewer and was well capable of the odd dirty action but somehow was very quiet in Gaelic Park when he couldn't resist the lure of the Tipp dollars to get him out.

Like a wee angel out there.

gallsman

I missed him but he's apparently there for the 25th anniversary team alright. Probably figures it's a great chance to tap a few lads up.

Was not present. There were some boos and jeers as his name was read out on the PA system.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Don't think so, our lad started out with Galway which was at the height of the Keady affair and the start of the real bad blood between the two counties both sides of the Atlantic.
Jonny didn't appear out stateside for a few years after that when it had quietened down a bit and Galway fell back a bit in NYC.
Our lad got friendly with a few Tipp lads, Eoiny Cummins and a few others and transferred over to Tipp in and around that later time.

Didn't your boy do nets for Tipp at one stage

I don't see any merit in this book and I would be surprised if many people bought it.
DJ exploits as a hurler are well covered.
What went on in his financial affairs is appalling, but I don't see how it's anyone's business, besides the victims'.

You wouldn't be saying that if he was a soccer player.

Ah yes, there a bit of the nothing more to see here when it's a GAA personality. A typically Irish way to deal with a Irish embarrassment.

I presume DJ has had no input into this book? Not telling his story so to speak?
