Have a 4 year old and another due in 2 months. Tablet wise she would only get to use the iPad  in the morning after breakfast for 20mins on weekends in the morning just while we get sorted for the day. (Or for 30 mins when I want peace to watch the football)

Then after that it's just like the wife and I's childhoods, get the old school classics on TV like Telebtubbies, Postman Pat, Fireman Sam etc then Bluey or whatever's on CBeebies.

Hasn't any access to internet or anything outside of the iPad and she's restricted to education gaames and YouTube kids on it. Even then that YouTube kids algorithm has thrown up some things that wouldn't say are suitable so I block those channels.

I'm sure going into primary school I'll get the "but so and so gets to do it" but sure I'll deal with being the bad guy then lol.. Phone wise we're 5 mins away from the school so she'll not get one until she's 11.

My ones didnt get a phone until they finished primary school.  Didnt allow snapchat for a year or so after that too, and I'll be honest it was probably too soon.  It's a curse of a thing.

11. "The roads were uneven and bumpy, so we could not read the local guide book during the bus ride to the resort. Because of this, we were unaware of many things that would have made our holiday more fun."

13. "I compared the size of our one-bedroom suite to our friends' three-bedroom and ours was significantly smaller."

And this is the problem. The technology and availability of unsuitable content has moved on but it's no different to when I grew up and a parent renting an 18 video for their child.

You can't legislate for a bad decision or stupidity of parents.

Aye that's my plan too once she finishes primary school she can have one. Snapchat hopefully it'll be dead and buried by time she's getting a phone, anyone random can add you and see your stories etc.. I know they can on insta/tiktok but feel there privacy settings are a lot better than Snapchat

Yeah but if suitably qualified staff don't want to live and work in the area what's the alternative?

This is a PFI building so the trust / DoH are on the hook for millions for the next 20 odd years.

Even the building is practically empty the PFI operator will be fully entitled to charge for all maintenance / upkeep as if the building was fully operational.
