Captain Scarlet

Ah in fairness there was a campign led by some and they were trying to lobby at Congress, but now it's gone nuclear.

The GPA ignore the rules when it suits them. Player welfare but then don't call out managers flogging players with trainings every day of the week, etc.

But they are clever and they know they can push a lot of buttons on this.
them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

Quote from: Captain Scarlet on May 08, 2025, 11:33:01 AMIt's like the coin toss in 2015! Sure it was voted on and agreed and then when it came to pass all of a sudden I was listening to the likes of my boss giving out about the men in the GAA not caring...

All over social media there was war and column inches, radio slots being filled. Then I'd say 200 turned up for the game to support the women.

It's a joke, but there are processes in all Gaelic Games to go through. The Players tend not to be arsed with how everything actually works until they are affected.

I strongly suspect a GPA muscle flex is at the heart of this. This literally came from nowhere.

It didn't come from nowhere or there wouldn't have been two separate motions about it at the 2024 congress.

Neither got voted through, but that's democracy for you, you don't always get what you want.

As a man with two daughters who play camogie, I'm indifferent to the outcome of it, but they both would prefer shorts.

There's bigger and more important hills for Aisling and the GPA to die on, but that's the one they've chosen.

It came from nowhere this week.

The Camogie Association has announced that it will call a Special Congress on 22 May at Croke Park in a bid to resolve the controversy over players being forced to wear skorts rather than shorts.

A vote will be held on the introduction of a rule to allow players the option to wear skorts or shorts. If passed, it will go into effect almost immediately.

So Munster final called off by Munster Camogie Council as teams indicating they won't abide by the rules. They're just going to have to change the rule..

'Skorksgate'... really overcooking this debate

For you lads so interested in this the motion going before the special congress will allow players to decide on an individual basis so some can decide to wear skorts and some can decide to wear shorts.

tonto1888

Just let them choose what they want to wear. What's the big deal?
SF TDs going to the dail in shorts was a bit much though

They got the special congress in 2 weeks. Whether thry change the ruling or not.
Go ahead with the game.
The Dubs and Kilkenny got the ball rolling on this issue, therr game is remembered for taking that stand. Unfortunately how many people know the outcome of the game.
That would be a bigger issue.

What's actually very funny is that the feminist movement has mobilised on this big time, as if the rule had been forced on the camogs by men, and calling it a victory for girl power.
Careful now

Which was the GPA's plan. Only question is what is their actual agenda here?

Jesus wept,
There was a sports "journalist" on the OTB podcast and she (yes, she) said it was a bad look for the GAA that this issue hasn't been resolved and neither of the other two morons corrected her that this is a Camogie Association issue and SFA to do with the GAA.

I despair

This special congress thing, anyone know what they're deciding between? Is it just to enforce skorts or to give an option of skort/shorts? Will there be an option to completely scrap skorts? I only ask as my daughter has returned to camogie after a year or so out and she has decided she wants to wear the skort. Don't want to buy it and then be told next week that skorts are gone.

I'd say it'll be choice.

In games then, everyone will wear shorts.
