This is precisely what Western (pro Zelensky) governments and their media arms are doing isn't it Gerry? These great principled leaders are ALL in on Israel and in the same breath ALL in on Ukraine.
How are you coping with the cognitive dissonance? Must be tough.

We can all agree it's a truly fcked up world and it looks (to my eye anyway) like it's accelerating in what appears to be a pre planned negative direction.

This George Orwell quote resonates
"All tyrannies rule through fraud and force, but once the fraud is exposed they must rely exclusively on force."

Nice try.

So in order to weasel out of your support for fascist Russia but condemnation of fascist Israel you equate me with hypocritical western governments.

I am answerable only to myself. No cognitive dissonance here.

Unlike yourself - crying about Palestinians* but an apologist, propagandist and excuser of attempted Russian genocide of the Ukrainian nation.

*when murdered by Israel only - those murdered by Assad or Hezbollah are of no concern and can be discarded for ideological reasons.

The cognitive dissonance is glaringly obvious.

You support the Western governments doing the right thing by encouraging and supporting Ukraine's war effort.
You believe they are supporting Ukraine because it's ideologically the right thing to do (i.e. to fight against fascism)

Surely you'd think that the same ethically pure ideals would be employed by these western governments when it comes to the Gaza conflict, yet instead these people supposedly driven by righteous principles are happy to support a genocide. Weird to my mind but not yours obviously.

Even the language you use stinks...'encouraging and supporting Ukraine's war effort'. Ukraine's 'war effort' consists entirely of defending itself from a genocidal invasion by a dictatorship. A dictatorship you support.

Like I said, I'm answerable only to myself, not the foreign policies of Britain or Germany or the US. So the cognitive dissonance and the hypocrisy is all yours. You're against fascism and simultaneously for fascism.

You're for human rights in Palestine and dismissive of human rights in Iran, Syria, Ukraine.

The board's biggest hypocrite. A conspiracy theorist, anti-semitic, holocaust denying, pro-dictatorship, pro-fascist.

It's 'glaringly obvious' to everyone on the board but yourself. I'd say almost everyone on this board is pro-Palestine but you're the only one that has gone down the rabbit hole with all the shite you watch online.

Stop feeding the troll. He's like a gramophone with the needle stuck.

Another day, yet another step deeper into callous, cruel totalitarianism.

The poor helpless Trump administration can't do anything about a young Salvardorean with protected status who they just lifted for extremely flimsy reasons and shipped off to the gulag in El Salvador. The guy had fled El Salvador as a kid and was now working and married to a US citizen with whom he had a five year old kid.

Apparently now he's in prison in El Salvador, there is apparently nothing that can be done to bring back yet another innocent that they've thrown to the dogs.

And then the likes of Vance and Ted Cruz try to gaslight the public claiming the media is going to bat for an MS-13 member when the man has never even been charged, never mind convicted of any crime.

This all on top of that poor Venezuelan, gay tattoo artist who they lifted and shipped out to El Salvador based on a misreading of a tattoo on his arm.

We're two months in. Where is this heading? Most of the US public don't give a shit while all the institutions are bending over.

I seriously wonder if the US is looking like Germany from 1921-1930's

What is truly unnerving is the GOP Senate turning a blind eye to everything that trump is doing. I have life long republican friends who are starting to see the writing on the wall and it's only been 73 days. However, there is the small minority of Republican's I know who think he is doing great.

It really is a terrifying to see the damage trump has done to the US and democracy in such a short time.

End of the day, long after Trump is gone nobody gonna trust the US again, once bitten twice shy. Americans find that out in the long run. Nxt Iraq type war, they be going it alone.

Corey Booker just did something remarkable. Should raise his profile among Dems who are longing for an Obama-like figure.

He met with Gallant in his office after the ICC had issued the arrest warrant..

That on it's own should be enough to condemn any politician in the minds of anyone with a sense of humanity but partisan simps like Eamonn have a great ability to look past such things.

I don't know. I guess it goes into the record books and possibly gives him a slight personal leg up, but will it do anything to rally or rouse opposition to Trump? It's not like he was holding up any legislation, which is where you usually see a filibuster used. We'll see, but to me it looks likely to be toothless performativism, albeit not quite as useless as those paddle messages the Dems held up during the state of the union.

Even if it grabs the news cycle for a few hours along with Musk's failed attempt to buy that Wisconsin Supreme Court election, Trump's latest tariffs ("Liberation Day") are coming today.

Yep, even if things swing back towards sanity in the next couple of elections, who's to say the MAGAts won't be back again after that to throw the whole thing into turmoil again. Other nations will simply not be able to rely on the US going forward.
