Has this been confirmed? Very early for a game on a Saturday.

Armagh in ladies final later that day hence the early throw in

Edit - A real Armagh fan would have known that.

Quote from: SaffronSports on March 24, 2025, 05:41:01 PMYou could half that and there would still be too many teams in Division 1. Realistically, you have Cargin who are on a level of their own. Then you have Portglenone, St Brigid's, Creggan maybe? The fact there are so few decent club sides absolutely impacts the county team but it's one of many, many issues.

Doesn't seem too long ago Aghagallon would have been worth a mention...what's gone wrong there ?

Cargin undeniably the best team (as has been the case for a long time) but the other teams named here are right on their coat tails at present. I'm also curious what's going on at Aghagallon. They have plenty of decent players if they can get their act together again.

On a different note, what's gone wrong at St Enda's?  Massive underage hype but they have completely failed to deliver at senior level.

Emigration has hit them hard!

Was speaking to a few of their members last year and was told that their intermediate AI final team is essentially gone.

Rebuild job but even I'm surprised by just how far they've dropped

Should really be further into their recovery than they are. One of the main offenders in staying up via board rooms. Sometimes you need a step or two back before you can move forward.

If Brigids can't win this year they never will. Best panel of players in the county by a mile, over half of them from Derry and Tyrone I understand. Of course that will be a shame for their homegrown players.
Creggan had a disaster in 2024, you'd expect a bounce back. PG1 there or thereabouts again. Cargin to end their dominance this year, would be my prediction. Aghagallon, Jonnies and Rossa are done. St.Galls are the great pretenders but not at the races. Anyone else who could rise from the pack?

Cargin will not be stopped, they have a very steady ship. How can you say Aghagallon are done? They were in 2 county finals not long ago. Murray from LD had them going well then. Has Pete McGrath turned them into a sh1t show?

St galls are building well, won't win this year but might leave a more fancied team with a defeat in group or knockout.

Aghagallon have good talent but even when they got to recent finals it was the grey haired men pullling the strings on the field and those lads haven't gotten any younger.

SaffronSports

Cargin still the team to beat. I think PG1 had a massive chance last year but beating Cargin isn't just about winning a football match, it's like mental warfare too with all their experience of winning these matches. The team that eventually beats them will need to have massive balls to put them away.

Caesar

Portglenone, Creggan, Lamh Dheargh and Aghagallon have all taken Cargin to extra-time in County Finals in recent years, and still Cargin have come out on top every single time. Quite incredible really!

They're to be admired really although that doesn't stop me wanting them to lose.

I've no dog in the race when it comes to men's football but they carry that aura like Man Utd in the 90s or Liverpool in the 80s where they just seem to continually get the job done which if you're not from Cargin probably makes you sick of them.

Fergie once said something about knocking Liverpool off their perch and until someone knocks Cargin off theirs they've earned the right to be favourites every time they step on a pitch (in Antrim). Not only are they very good footballers but they have granite self-belief to go with it.

Hectic

If St Brigids bring in enough players with the right mentality they could topple Cargin.

Among the discussion of underage and grass roots football, how do we think the u20s will fair tonight against donegal, young lad from my neck of the woods Darach Bradley in and amongst the Panel, and ive heard they have a few other formidable players out such as young Johnston. Hopefully be a in thrilling game none the less :P
