Yeah, that is a controllable, but when players lose their heads and get sent of for daft things, that is not a managers controllable.. Like what manager sends out a player to take out the goalkeeper in a final? No one

You must deal with each incident on its own. 1 is not the same as the other. Its important to remain impartial in those situations - put the past in the past. I understand you have problems doing that.

Quote from: Spike on March 03, 2025, 12:44:58 PMSligo is a very winnable game but success or failure this year appears to be how we do in Tailteann Cup.

Disagree. Relegation would be a major setback. A good Tailteann Cup run would not make up for it in anyone's language.
Sligo game is now a relegation playoff.

i agree, but i'm not in the majority on this board

I don't think that is the case. Let's be honest we were never going to get promoted but relegation would be a disaster.

Refs get paid, thats fact. Mileage plus a fixed fee per game. Its more than the cost to run any car to games.

paddyjohn

God forbid that the refs get paid.

thegladiator

No refs-no games and when you hear some of the "expenses" that are being paid out to club managers, sometimes with little or no return on investment, I certainly  wouldn't begrudge any ref a few quid to pay for the headache tablets.

paddyjohn

Any man who would begrudge the ref a few quid needs to have a word with himself. I remember one of our hurling refs heading away to Portaferry on a Sunday for 2pm and stopping in Belfast for a ladies game that night. He wasn't home until the back of 9pm.
