Quote from: Take the Mark on February 21, 2025, 11:33:10 AMI recall a couple of girls being shipped from St Comgalls to Moneyglass 2 or 3 years ago basically to serve the ego's of their parents more than anything.

That South West area seems crazy with so many girls dual players for different clubs. How many clubs down there do both codes for the girls? Randalstown, Cargin, Creggan?

I coach ladies football in the Glens but across our teams we have girls playing camogie for a handful of different clubs but id say it's unlikely any of those will ever start a football team.

Portglenone have just started this year with underage LGFA, up as far as U12......that has put a few Moneyglass and Cargin noses out of joint seeing as they have been poaching girls from there with great success.

Even the tranche of PG1 girls that were brought to Cargin a few years ago, that are now U14/U16, caused a few rows as Moneyglass thought there was an unwritten agreement that they would hoover them all up.

The ones that went from St Comgalls to Moneyglass definitely was as a result of their parents......which cost St Comgalls a couple of referees as well as the players...

Why would Moneyglass's noses be out of joint?  You can't poach from a club with no ladies football team just as Glenariffe aren't poaching Ballycastle players. Both clubs will just continue on their way and good luck to Portglenone on their new journey. Moneyglass have been strong at Senior and underage for years now and whatever Portglenone do I don't see that changing. Randalstown, Glenravel and Ballymena have big catchment areas so all to play for in the coming years.

Glenravel have themselves in there nicely as the boys football team of the north. the hurling strongholds happy enough with that I presume.

I'd like to see more support given to St Comgalls in retaining their players and officials. They can ill afford to see them leave and seem to be building nicely there.  Always well treated any time we are down there.

Well the parents and the refs are one and the same, so unfortunately it would have been very difficult for the club to retain them.

As said by someone else, ego would have been at the forefront of that decision....Maybe St Comgalls are better off without them!

Why would they drive past Tir na nog and Creggan?

The County Executive have decided to move Monday nights county meeting to an online forum rather than face to face to discuss league formats and parachuting Dunloy into Div 1 .What a cop out!

So Antrim are -13 points for this game.. been a while since we've been that much of a favourite, that said Leitrim have been atrocious

I'm hoping for a positive approach from the players and management on the back of the hammering last week.

Weather to be fine tomorrow, ground will be heavy but think we should rack up a big score
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

If that forecast is anyway indicative you'd hope to see the bench relatively early.

It could, in this league be score difference that can decide placing, we shipped a score last week so need that back.

Have already discussed this when you were championing St Teresa's case last autumn - Dunloy have not been parachuted in - leagues are to mirror championship and Dunloy avoided relegation from senior championship - and nothing in regulations to promote anyone else anyway - not saying regulations were ideal or well written but if you had issue you should have addressed it when the draft league and championship regulations were circulated last year - rather than trying to rewrite them now on an online forum 😂

Crazy odds for a game between 2 teams in the same division, especially given we are not running away with it.  But as you rightly say, have to go for it and try to at least justify the odds for the sake of final standings should score diff become a factor.

Anyway, looks like the makings of a good day for it so maybe avoid getting the balls frozen for a change.

I've a 4th birthday party to attend so I may hope somebody streams it 👀

Great win, but silence... so predictable

I'm not really sure what else you were expecting?  Great to get a win?
