Quote from: tonto1888 on December 31, 2024, 07:40:06 AMre the incident in CEX. My partner is an SEN teacher and has been bitten, punched, kicked, spat on had her hair pulled, objects thrown at her etc. It can be hard to deal with people who have severe learning difficulties/special needs even with training. I am not defending the staff in the shop by the way as the comment one member is supposed to have made is horrendous. As for the sister, I think her intent was to highlight the lack of awareness around these sorts of issues rather than looking for her 15 minutes of fame as one bellend put it
Spot on.

Captain Obvious

Gareth Southgate Knighted in New Years Honours list for services to football.  Average player and as a manager known for finishing runner up twice in the European championship that was England's competitions to lose.

Jimmy Savile must be turning in his grave with how easy the Sir title is earned nowadays.

Michael Bloomfield, the chief executive of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, has been made an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire).

A patient has waited 19 hours in the back of an ambulance outside a hospital's emergency department, the medical director of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) has said.

These 2 things are being reported on BBC NI's website, today. How, exactly, do you get an award for operating a complete & utter shambles, that's endangering people??

It's hardly his or one persons fault, and I assume the patient was in the ambulance so long because the hospital had no capacity. The ambulance can't just dump them at the door.

On the CEX thing, it amazes me how something can escalate to the point of the police physically removing a vulnerable person from a shop over something that was so easy to avoid in the first place. As a parent of an autistic child, this could easily have been my daughter and all it takes is for a small bit of consideration that makes all the difference to someone like her. You worry about what the world will be like for her when she is older and when you see stuff like this you realise it's a long way from where you want it to be.

My wife and I are at odds over this one. We have a special needs child and he 100% would have a meltdown if he wasn't given a toy in a shop if he jad his eye on it. I think the way the police handled it is disgraceful whereas my wife says that's because I could scoop our fella up and haul him out of the shop whereas she says she'd appreciate some assistance in removing him. It's a tough one but it definitely looks bad on camera.

Duine Inteacht Eile

Any idea what the girl's mother wanted the cops to do when she phoned them? I don't know what assistance she was asking for.

Here, they gave here the Dvd, and put the 2 pound through in the morning, would sorted the whole thing. Commonsense is in short supply these days.

I don't think there are many places would go for that, especially someone on minimum wage trying to explain that up the line

I can see her point there and I suppose I'm the same in that I can physically deal with our wee one but in a couple of years my wife might struggle to do the same. I guess that is where the context of what was going on comes in, had they taken their daughter specifically to get the dvd and then it all changed, or were the shop just being very unhelpful which escalated everything. I still can't understand how the police were involved at all, and then when they did arrive, how they thought their actions were appropriate. Though, like everyone else, we don't know the whole story.

Benn and Labour are no better than the Tories.

Not unexpected as they're Brits and they'll do everything to hide their dirty secrets.

Give strength to that family. Keep fighting.

Tony Baloney

The Brits are fairly getting their eyes opened to this Labour government. Totally rotten.
