Quote from: imtommygunn on December 28, 2024, 06:35:04 PMYou would imagine they'd have an awkward Monday morning and won't need to worry about getting up for work Tuesday. It'll be interesting to see what the fallout for the psni is.
Doesn't seem to be any fallout or accountability for the police. Outrage on social media until the next story comes along with a few councillors joining in... no word at all now of PSNI officer caught on camera booting the 16-year-old in the head in Cookstown two weeks ago... was same social media outrage and then... its gone ...

It's been referred to the Police Ombudsman, are you expecting hourly updates or what ?

Statement from PSNI and shop owner be helpful. Any police officers taken off duty after dragging a vulnerable teenager out of a shop screaming?
Or do they remain on the street like the police man in Cookstown who kicked the 16-year-old in the head?. Bit of clarification be helpful

Who was the man in the video? Was that the child's father? He looks to be almost helping the police?

I don't understand how if you allow customers into a shop that the tills are closed? Surely that's a balls up anyway.

According to the comments it was, the cop was twisting her arm

I heard the shutters were half down and it was her da who suggested carrying her out.

From who? One of the people in the video or the person taking the video?

On social media it is the girl's sister explaining what happened. She says the police were dragging the distressed child (age 19 - she has the mind of a child) and the father got involved as a police officer was twisting her arm. The woman speaking (mother) is certainly not supporting the police action and the girl is in an awful state.
Would it not have been better to get a chair and try sit her down and calm the child - reassure her?

I don't think u understand the level of disability here. I be in special schools regularly, and when a pupil has a episode, calming him/her down can be very difficult.

Fair enough though I imagine 4 police officers dragging her out the door would only add to her distress.

I still can't understand why £2 could not have been put to the side for the next day and everyone went on their way without all the ensuing drama.

Maybe the teller had issues and couldn't see a problem with saying that, rules being what they are, or was just a twat who'd no empathy for the situation in front of them and will certainly come in (rightly) for plenty of flack
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Has there been any explanation as to why the ma called the peelers?

Bizarre episode.

To be honest I don't think anyone comes out of this looking well. I must admit I find it somewhat tasteless when people choose to film incidents like this. It's hard not to feel that the family may have contributed to escalating an already upsetting situation.

Truthsayer

100% right to video and highlight this episode. Am at a loss to see how the family looks bad in this. Seems, despite being explained,  shop assistant presumed the child was a spoilt brat and police took the same view rather than appreciating how vulnerable she is.

As like, a teacher or an assistant, or you just wander in off the street?
