I kept reading that CEX story thinking surely there's something we weren't being told - yet to hear it. Just awful from staff & cops.

The mother of the child phoned the police obviously expecting a different outcome. Both the shop workers and the peelers at fault here but I'd lay most of the blame with the PSNI as they should know better. The same crowd aren't so brave when it's loyalist rioters.

I expect there plenty of shops wondering where the PSNI are when they have gangs of shoplifters rather than customers demanding to buy things.

No common sense by the police or the shop assistant

Will certainly affect their business and the peelers will just come across as being inadequate in dealing with people with special needs.

Edit: I think shop assistants having issues with shoplifters will phone and say they have issues with  an autistic child, they'll bring the heavies for it.
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

For the sake of 2 quid.

Ffs. Surely they could have rang it up the following day...

From what I can gather.

A severely autistic child wanted to buy a £2 DVD but the employee refused as they had cashed up the till for the evening.

The parents pleaded that they either run the transaction through in the morning or that they'd come back and pay, the child was non-verbal with the intellect of a toddler and didn't understand that she couldn't have it. Police were called, who in the end manhandled the child out of the shop. I believe a pleasant comment was made by one of the employees to the parents regarding their child.

That's accurate - is distressing video to watch so God knows what that child and her mother was going through, dragged out the way a drunk would be ejected from a pub. Disgusting from the PSNI and the shop assistant.

I think the person who originally shared the video was the mother. I would hope several people are sacked here.

Were the parents, or woman, refusing to leave without taking it with them?

That was a shocking video and there's no excuse for how the shop assistant or peelers behaved

Yes apparently said that her mother should put a leash on her. That individual should be sacked.

Awful comment to make. Where was the common sense?

You would imagine they'd have an awkward Monday morning and won't need to worry about getting up for work Tuesday. It'll be interesting to see what the fallout for the psni is.

Doesn't seem to be any fallout or accountability for the police. Outrage on social media until the next story comes along with a few councillors joining in... no word at all now of PSNI officer caught on camera booting the 16-year-old in the head in Cookstown two weeks ago... was same social media outrage and then... its gone ...
