What is it about Derry wans, won't appoint their own 🤷

Tyrone have a fermanagh man in charge. People in glass houses and all that.
Grasping at straws here 😄 O'Rourke living in Tyrone over 33 years and has won championship Tyrone club medals as a player and manager... are we in birth certificate territory now?

Roy Keane has been living in England for over 30 years but you wouldn't call him an English man by any stretch. Orourke is a Fermanagh man born and bred, he played for Fermanagh also. He wouldn't be next or near Tyrone if it wasn't for the huge salary, don't kid yourself.

Derry have had 11 different managers from multiple countries in the last 22 years. Are use really in a position to give out.

I think they were all Irish as far as i'm aware. Harte and Gallagher from outside the county. Plenty of counties have outside managers, just the same as most clubs, it's not a big deal.

Autocorrect. Meant counties. Dont forget your new apparent manager in Tally.

All totally irrelevant as long as he brings success. That's what all managers are judged on.

Crossmaglen following the Derry blueprint. Complete balls made of appointment.
Corey linked. See the club had a facebook post up to deny all rumours that an appointment was made.

How are they making a balls of it? I wonder was AK approached before taking the role with Sligo?

I'd say all this fuss with Tally will blow over when the football starts.

It'll all be forgot about.

People have short memories.

Derry County Board must had clearly run out of road and decided to go for Tally, after him committing so publically to Kerry. The 2 leading figures don't come out with much credit. It was becoming another 'Casement Park' saga.

Money must have been threw at Tally as Derry were in a desperate position. In a way deserting Kerry seems to be the norm now - Mickey Graham and Gormley in a club team in Tyrone. Nobody is off limits now. Offer them what they want and it'll happen.

In fairness, I'd say Tally is glad in a way as the travel to Kerry is long and arduous for 6 months of the year. It takes its toll. A short trip over the Sperrins is more appealing in the first half of the year.

Quote from: The Trap on November 13, 2024, 05:00:27 PMWhat would success be?

Success in the league would be developing a style of play and a number of players that we can bring to the championship. It doesn't matter if we get relegated or not. There is very little difference between Div1 and Div2. The last two all Ireland champions have won it from Div2.

Success in the championship would be avoiding a preliminary QF and making it to the last 8 or last 4. The Ulster championship is an irrelevance at the best of times, but given the draw it's not something Derry should lose any sleep over.

I don't doubt he is getting paid whether by county board or Club Tyrone or anonymous sponsors I don't know. As for being described as an outsider after 33 years living and playing club football in Tyrone is a bit fanciful.
