No different to how Harte behaved with Louth last year.

Don't think that's the case. Harte was open and transparent. Graham still hasn't told people why he left. There's lots of speculation about money, players leaving and a fall out with the board but the reality is that Graeme departed, sent out a pathetic half baked generic excuse and then joined Galway. Not the same as Hart at all.

Do you know anyone who has every left a job for a payrise or for a better opportunity?

Every done it yourself?

After committing to a job and leaving before getting started? No.

Never did it myself no. You?

The lure of working with a bigger team more than a brown envelope is most likely the driver behind it.
I tend to think of myself as a one man wolfpack...

I have actually i had two job interviews within a week of each other and the first company offered me the job and i accepted and two weeks later the other company came to me with a job offer. Took it and told the 1st crowd that i had got a better offer and they were dissapointed but wished me all the best.

Have you issue with that?

Not the same there really is it. Graham takes job and 2 months later jumps ship before gig gets going. In the process leaves Leitrim high and dry and goes to another Connacht county.

You'll have your opinion and I'll have mine, most people I talk to would be of same view as myself. Mickey Graham will not be too worried. IMO reflects poorly on him.

QuoteGalway chairperson Paul Bellew has refuted suggestions they approached new coach Mickey Graham while he was still Leitrim manager.

On Thursday night, it was confirmed that former Cavan manager Graham will join Pádraic Joyce's setup. Corofin native Dave Morris, a highly-regarded coach and analyst, was also announced.

Earlier this year, Graham was installed as Leitrim manager on a three-year term, succeeding Andy Moran. Two months after his appointment, Graham stood down.

Cian O'Neill's move to become head coach of the Kerry footballers meant Galway have spent weeks searching for a replacement. There had been much speculation about Graham's arrival.

"We are fully aware of how it looks," said Bellew.

"From our perspective to be categorical about it from the outset, coaches move around. Pádraic would never target a manager from another county. We wouldn't stand over it. As a county chairperson or a management committee. We know how it will be interpreted. Mickey's availability had nothing to do with the coaching vacancy in Galway.

"That is clear. Pádraic has actually been talking to a number of coaches over the last few weeks. He was keeping me updated on that. The opportunity presented itself for Mickey to get involved as Pádraic changed things up.

"It is important as well to point out the other addition to the coaching ticket in Dave Morris. That is probably getting overlooked and a great news story from Galway's perspective. When Cian left, Pádraic was going to shake things up anyway. I have spoken to Leitrim as well, because I am aware of the narrative around it. It was made clear we didn't approach Mickey while he was manager and that was accepted."

Look-Up!

Quote from: Blue in hope on October 23, 2024, 09:10:32 PMHe would have been on a lot more €€€ in Leitrim than he will get in Galway

Not sure about that. He was asked how much Galway were paying and had this to say.

Absolute drivel, why would joyce target someone who issued a statement saying they had to step down for personal reasons. oh yeah must give them a shout to see if this job suits that personal commitment issue they had. Sure we're a bit further away so its a no brainer!! The whole thing is getting like the premier league.

He never said personal reasons. And going by stories emerging from Leitrim you'd maybe understand why.

Huge difference between being a Manager of an inter county team and being a bit part of a management team. A Lot more free time, a lot less responsibility. Galway no doubt are a far more attractive proposition than LL.

"circumstances beyond his control" is what the Leitrim county board said in the statement when Graham left. Stories will always be told and I doubt it will ever be published in public what those circumstances actually was.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose
