Quote from: AustinPowers on October 11, 2024, 11:45:17 AMI found Breaking Bad very tedious. It only livened up the last  few episodes.

I think part  of the problem was there was  nobody to root  for. You need somebody to cheer on , but they were all arseholes, particularly the wife. She did  my head in .

It was a  hard slog getting  through it. No way could I sit through it again.... Bitch!

Thought it was very boring, didn't get through it

Enjoying the Sopranos at the minute, is Tony the most heartwarming sc**bag of them all? Great acting performance from James Gandolfini and several others

Would the wire be worth a watch? Would it be same level as sopranos and breaking bad?

Absolutely!

It maybe has a different pacing to the other two, certainly the sopranos anyway. It is often described as slow, but the character development and story arcs are amazing. I don't think i've ever watched a series that felt as 'real' as the wire. Would highly recommend, although it does take a few episodes to get into it, but stick with it and be ready to settle into it

Brilliant series. Better that Breaking Bad imo and up there with Sopranos albeit quite different. The characters in The Wire are brilliant, cops and all...

Excellent show. Would be in my top tier...

Lost, GoT, Forbrydelsen, Gomorrah, the Wire, Sopranos, Breaking bad

I've probably missed some too

Emmm, I'm not so sure tbh. I'm torn between which of those 3 shows is more overblown and overrated. The character arc or lack there of of many of the Soprano's characters often supercedes the flatness and often one dimensional Breaking Bad storyline. The Wire, while it does occasionally deliver as a deep dive into the human psychy....

I'm only messing, 3 absolutely brilliant shows that I've rewatched at least once (Love / Hate as well) , but none are as good as Deadwood  8)

Breaking Bad was better than Sopranos. The Wire was good, but not top tier.

I'd put the wire at the top. Breaking bad is incredibly overrated, wouldn't have it in my top 50, not a single likeable character in it. Sopranos is really good also.

All four shows are outstanding.

It was such a shame they pulled Deadwood after three seasons. Brilliant acting and story telling annd characters all around, once you got used to the rather Shakespearian foul mouthedness. Has there been a better fight scene on tv than Dan Dority fighting "the Captain" to the death in the mud out on the street, both of them doing their masters bidding?

I mentioned lost recently on here.. I was at s3, hard watching after that and a waste of time really.

gomorrah and sopranos were excellent, the Wire for me is number 1. It did take me 2/3 times watching season 1 eps 1-3 to fully understand the main players but after that each season was great.

Never got BB buzz but watched it again years later as every loved it but very unlikeable characters I thought.
