Refs arent as important as some of them like to think they are. And if they are competent should have no bearing on results.

Nobody will be heading to either final next week to watch a referee.

Would ye whist

None of the 3 appointed are competent, shambles

Wee Barky

The best refs get the biggest gigs, that's how it should work. At least Belfast has a representation on the big days.

Attended the minor final yesterday in a fairly miserable Hannahstown, wind howling and rain falling sideroads. 2 quality sides on show, Biddies for me just about edged it and rightfully lifted the cup. What will come of their talent, who knows - they could be elbowed out for the next batch of blow ins soon.
St Pauls making strides at underage (and now senior) level and should they hold their act together those lads will be repping in the SFC soon.

But Hannahstown, 12pm for a minor final in October. Dear lord WHY!

Big weekend past saw the culmination of juvenile activity for the year.

St Brigids won All County U-14 on Friday night, and added a minor title on Sunday. Congratulations on that, shows the work that's going on there.

PG1 beat them in the under 16 final a few weeks back, and Casements added the Minor B title yesterday with a dozen under 16s playing. In between they won SW under 16 (Breslin Cup) and SW minor (Laverty Cup). Those dozen players who overlap have 4 medals to show for their years activity!

Toome a great venue for a game should be noted.

Outsider looking in - were Minor A and B finals played at same time yesterday chaps?

imtommygunn

The laverty cup final was on roughly the same time too? (which I didn't think Portglenone were in??)

They were more or less the same time - not sure if exactly.

Yeah they were both at 12pm, minor games are at 12pm on a Sunday all year in both codes so the semis and finals are the same. Not saying it has to be this way but that's they way they schedule them
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Cheers chap. Bit weird for the odd die hard that may have wanted to watch both but no biggie I suppose

But then again it is a biggie, why the hell are we doing this to ourselves and our games.

A minor final deserves to be an event, why not get on in Dunsilly under the lights make a deal of it.

Same with the hurling, seems they couldn't wait to get it over and done with.

Why not promote them and try and do something different with them than just throwing them on a random Sunday at a crap time of the day.

Killing the thing and no one to blame but ourselves.

The new southwest powerhouse? Plenty talent coming through
And the senior team getting a taste of corrigan yesterday too it's all ramping up this week
Antrim GAA still no tickets out for buying as yet 6 days before a county final

belfastsaff

is Kevin Parke part of the cartel?

Would ye whist

He's never too far away from them, saw him and one other famous member skulking about at Dunsilly last weekend trying to slip in for nothing with their grand leader Totes, all walked in without a  ticket scanned

Did Glenravel not win the Laverty Cup yesterday? Could have swore I seen it in the Saffron Gael this morning. But dont let that get in the way of blowing smoke up your own holes Bannside. T'wouldnt be like you!

In all seriousness, a huge week for you all in Portglenone - the biggest in your history. Lap it all up, the buzz will be fantastic and even better when you bring home the bacon.

Portglenone were in the Laverty shield.
The cup and shield were seperate competitions from the outset.
