No doubt another legal challenge from the Alternative A5 is being preparer and will further delay this?

Would it be too much to expect that DfI and their legal team would have a water tight legal case at this stage after how many years?

Surely there comes a point where other avenues for legal challenges are exhausted, or is there no mechanism to call for any and all challenges to be submitted by xxxx date so they can be dealt with one way or the other and progress either happens or an alternative is sorted?

Can a compulsory purchase order put an end to the constant objections and delays?

I would have thought that's exactly what they were for, otherwise no project of this scale would ever happen.

I believe you can appeal against an entire scheme rather than an individual CPO, which has been what all these "concerned" individuals have been doingfor years.

I never see this Alternative A5 group on the tv arguing their case.

Surely that should be it now. Decision made - move on and get it built.

As, as someone else said above, nothing would ever get built.

Not as long as Stormont is back.

I met this lad a couple times recently on trips home - he doesn't seem to have any rationale for heading up this Alternative A5 group as far as I could tell. i.e. he isn't a wealthy protestant land owner.

What's his motivation?

Seemed like a nice enough fella but maybe not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I see the latest concern is flooding in the stretch between Strabane and Newbuildings. How long have they had to raise these concerns and why are we only hearing about them now?? Smells like another delaying tactic IMO

Casement all over again. Stall, stall and stall.

Bull on with Omagh to Aughnacloy in the meantime. It's the worst bit anyway.
