Would ye whist

That is like saying we could play without officials as players know the rules and will self police

IF you have the correct experienced officials in place they can block out the noise and remove the 'chaos' to focus on what they should be doing, however when the administration is hand picking officials to give their own club the best chance to advance things like experience and ability go out the window...........looks like it just might come back to bite them this time

Quote from: Gael-in-exile on September 18, 2024, 12:54:56 PMBlame the officials is an easy way out. They have 30 players on the field and an increasing amount of people on the line to manage.
Ever been a linesman in the last minute or two of a game beside a dugout?? It's chaos at times.
Anyway the responsibility of numbers on the field lies first and foremost with the team, if the officials miss something that's a mistake but they happen. If I'm a manager making a sub I know who is to come off, and with time almost up I'll be getting him out of the way quickly so as to not waste time.

What a load of balls. When the a sub is coming on, the play has stopped. They don't come on in mid play. Seriously how hard is to wait and observe the player walking off and then blow the whistle for the play to resume. Thats what the 30 ses added unto the end of game is for ffs. When the sub goes on and the player going off, its completely the official's responsibility. If you have 16 players on the filed I agree the management should tell the linesman, and maybe they did, but considering how stupid he and the ref were making such a simple mistake that has recently been highlighted at the highest level, you could excuse one for suggesting they were incompetent.

I've stated the officials made a mistake but I also referred to the issues they deal with when saying "chaos".
However in all of this the responsibility of playing numbers being correct is with the team.

I watched a team about 10 years ago when down to 14 men run a player who was wearing a starting jersey up the sideline and slide onto the pitch. Only a supporter noticed this I'm sure it would've went unidentified.

If a team make a mistake and play an extra man then they have made the error.

LD going to have to do it all again...

Quote from: InnocentByStander on September 18, 2024, 12:11:42 PMJust highlights the need for a fourth official at championship games, every other club championship has fourth officials...

We struggle to get refs to do the games never mind a 4th official.

Personally I think Creggan should take their salt. They weren't good enough to beat LD on the day so let it go.

Reminds me of the bizarre scenario a few years ago when Aghagallon progressed to the final after the referee decided to play two periods of extra time in the semis. Thankfully sporting integrity was displayed on that occasion.

Will be interesting to see how this new scenario plays out.

No chance that will happen.

Sporting integrity has left the scene of the Antrim club season.  Between Creggan's moaning, Lamh Dhearg maybe playing an extra man, Portglenone's objections to the set draw, St Brigids objection to the new open draw, the mess of the championship relegations/promotions and the circus of the Div 1 entrants, League finals and semi finals,    its fair to say its no wonder we are where we are.    Complete disarray.

Again, bollox. The game was level. The extra man they had presented the opportunity in a counter attack to have an extra body we could numerically never match, hence the free player for the score.

Spoken like a true LD man

Creggan are fair enough to be aggrieved and nobody is assuming foul play from LD but the yapping done about changing structures to suit teams has completely eroded the integrity.

Look at the shambles div 1 is and the fact it goes:

Div 1: 16 teams - Play each other once - 15 games
Div 2: 10 teams - Play each other, top/bottom split play again - 13 games
Div 3: 8  teams - Play each other H&A - 14 games

We've three completely distinct league structures and promotion/relegation pathways because certain teams didn't want to take their medicine and they're still changing things on the fly.

I'd say just double down and fold the reserve teams into league structure and expand the league like they were back in the day.

Creggan will get the offer of a replay if they prove LD had 16 men on field for the score in question, that is the rules, bit if Cahair O Kanes description of incident is right Jesus that looks petty appealing that. Not sure Creggan will come out of this well no matter what happens now

Could do with one or 2 boxes maybe. Micko Herron & Paddy C at 40 + years of age destroying the defence of Creggan and them complaining about it. I'd sit this one out if I were Creggan.
