Quote from: bannside on September 18, 2024, 10:24:33 AMHeard that Creggan were back out training last night!

What's LDs view? Will they contest there were 16 men on the pitch at the time?

You'de assume though that someone has got video evidence that Creggan now have access to before they would lodge an appeal!

They must be confident they are getting a replay if that is the case!

could be or their management team is trying to squeeze another weeks expenses out of the season. sounds like sour grapes tbh.   I can understand the st brigids appeal though waiting until the week after the draw was made rather than before suggests either fear or gamesmanship to put cargin off their stride.

One thing is for sure this 2024 championship, relegation, promotion etc has been messy and the county admins have not covered themselves in glory

What 2?

Cahair O'Kane seemed to think in his article yesterday that Cargin and St Brigid's were happy enough. I assumed he had maybe got sources. TBH if I'm Cargin and St Brigid's are appealing that's the team talk sorted. Lads, these ones are terrified to play you. Mind games would be in Cargin's favour if St Brigid's show weakness by appealing.

FALSE. But sure it sounds good

St Brigids one sounds like it's made up.

Could be more legs to the Creggan one though if indeed an extra man on the pitch when a crucial score was got.

Quote from: thegladiator on September 17, 2024, 11:53:31 PMLets be honest, The whole league/ championship set up has been a cluster fxxk. Div 1 has been nothing but a series of glorified  challenge games with some weaker teams setting great emphasis on it in order to survive, while some of the stronger teams were just happy to survive. Teams not fielding in league "semi-finals" tells it own story. There are 6-8 teams who are better than the rest by some distance and could really be classed as senior. Clubs need to accept their level and build from there. As I've asked before, what is the hurry to get leagues completed by late june/ early July? It's not as if our county teams are expected to go on extended all-ireland runs, and if they do- we can cross that bridge as a welcome headache!  Do we really need so many group games that are practically  pointless? We are having practically no games in july, then 3 senior championship games in August,
4 intermediate championship games in 7 weeks between 31st July and 14th September.  If you get knocked out early or are out of contention for semi finals..... nothing til next march, nearly 7 months. Pitches are much better than they used to be, and yet most are not used after august/ early September until the following march, so I don't think that is an issue. I'm still of the opinion that unless our leagues and championships are sorted properly and not organised to appease a few clubs, we are on the road to nowhere. We have to look beyond the 35/40 guys who are on county squads and create worthwhile competitions for the hundreds of adult players coming in behind who contribute massively to our games and will be the driving force behind any future  development in our county teams.

Surely the players are allowed to go on holiday at that time??

Is that not acceptable?

With a lot in education, be that teaching or as students, July and August are the only windows where they can book a holiday.

So taking one of those months out of the calendar is surely fair enough.

Happened in a recent All Ireland Club final.
No replay.

Actually on checking a replay was ordered in that situation by the CCC so if it is right that an extra man was on the pitch then using AI final as precedent it is a replay.

Cases slightly different where a team seems to have managed a crucial score with the extra man (if correct) whereas Glenn were kept out with the help of an extra man.  But probably similar enough to have the same ruling i.e. replay.

Bit of a hash if it was the case - how hard is it when notified of a substitute and play stopped to keep an eye that a player leaves the pitch?

Or do the officials take the opportunity at substitutions to check their WhatsApp groups or the like?

Replay was ordered. Glen subsequently withdrew their appeal after Crokes threw their toys out of the pram.

Is that why it was the only one not streamed yesterday? The plot thickens  ;D
Aha maybe something in this

Of course people are allowed to go on holiday at anytime they want, but my point is that we cram the leagues in an unnecessarily small time frame, without county players etc then in July, August and half of September we have 3 senior or 4 intermediate championship games and then the season is done. Its crazy.it has  lead us directly to the situation  we are in now with teams having different league and championship squads, not taking leagues seriously, teams that should be relegated to division 3 getting to senior championship finals, then it all having to be restructured, which is then completely messed up by the county and so the bandwagon of chaos rolls on.

InnocentByStander

Just highlights the need for a fourth official at championship games, every other club championship has fourth officials...

Dunsilly King

Rule was changed after that final, to the sub had to be off the field of play before play resumed.

Would ye whist

The balls up here must lay directly with the referee and his linesman, how difficult is it for them to communicate when a substitute has been completed, we really do not do ourselves any favours in this county the majority of our referees and their administration is a complete laughing stock

Gael-in-exile

Blame the officials is an easy way out. They have 30 players on the field and an increasing amount of people on the line to manage.
Ever been a linesman in the last minute or two of a game beside a dugout?? It's chaos at times.
Anyway the responsibility of numbers on the field lies first and foremost with the team, if the officials miss something that's a mistake but they happen. If I'm a manager making a sub I know who is to come off, and with time almost up I'll be getting him out of the way quickly so as to not waste time.
