 ;D

Maybe he'll get promoted upon that 3 year term ending!!

Young kelly of portglenone doing well with Club and school. Be no shortage of offers for club teams next season if he could be bothered with the hassle of senior management.

Lol big Hoof.

Young Niall Kelly just added another nice mark to his growing CV, a county under 16 title to add to the All Irdland B colleges won earlier in the year.

Homecoming in the club in ten minutes, St Brigids must be truly sick, three up and two extra men with just ten minutes to go.

Odhran Doherty outstanding...write that name down.

Congratulations to Casements Bannside, didn't think anyone saw that conclusion coming. Is Doherty the midfielder? Caught some great high balls.

bannside

Thanks Brendan, a comeback for the ages in a cracking game. Don't think anyone predicted that ending!
Some very gifted players in action with Owen Docs lad the standout. Got the lot...another product of St Pats Maghera added to a very progressive juvenile set up in the club.

I've seen young Odhrán Doherty for a few years now in opposition to my own teams.
Probably u12 the first I saw him and he played like an u16 then.

Very composed for such a young player and has the physical attributes to go far.
He's a cert for a good county career ahead of him.

Some playing numbers in the pictures from PG1 U16s. Possibly like Dunloy the bit of development in the rural setting is helping numbers and the development of the club.
I did note that the Saffron Gael report used the term "all hell broke loose". I'm hoping that's a bit of journalistic exaggeration

Great to hear.  Adam Loughran and CJ both had fantastic underage careers but injury has hampered them making a big impact at senior, yet.  Would be great to see the three of them injury free and driving Antrim on in the next few years.

bannside

Indeed. Conchuir Johnston Adam Loughran and Peter Healy are all absolute top ballers, be great if they were available to Andy throughout 2025. Those 3 would get on any county team imo...

Gael in exile I think it was a bit off an exaggeration with the all hell broke loose,I'd say the ref had a big say on that,in my eyes it was a free in to pg1 in the first place, watch pg1 warm up from behind goals, their coach kelly was telling them to get hits on,get in their face, bully them, you are going to get a few lads taking that seriously, I'm sorry but the coach could've rephrased his orders

imtommygunn

Is he Owen's kid or another Doherty?

Good to see a new name on the championship - can only be good for competition.

Ghost+Tommy

We beat the same group at 14s and 15s,but our style will only get us so far,pg1 have learned, some great ballers,No 7,6 12,15 and off course no 8 Doherty to name a few,ps st Bs aren't a bad team either, the 2 strongest, enjoy BS

To be fair on the report they said the mentors and officials stepped in to restore calm quickly.
But you are correct in the use of language. Sometimes it's taken in the wrong context and sometimes it's the person communicating who needs to review how and what they are saying.
Unfortunately a lot of the time when it gets to bigger games (and lesser games also) some coaches lose the run of themselves and forget the role they play in being a leader for younger boys and girls.

The handbags had nothing to do with the coach's words in fairness. It was to do with the poor decision making of the referee. Where he also failed to notice a player from St brigids play a starring role in it before juking to sit on the sub bench whilst the other players where getting carded.

That under 16 competition was very competitive all year, league and championship, and would be known by county development squad coaches as a very decent year group (by recent Antrim standards).

The panel and management got a brilliant reception back at the club in recognition of being the first ever Roger Casements winners of the competition..a few of my sons were part of a good Sean Stinsons side 14 years ago.

Re the incident, the smallest player on the field (a very classy act too) Conor Burns was weaving his way through for a point with two or three St Brigids lads twice his size hanging off him, and whilst everybody including neutrals beside me thought the whistle sounded for a free in, the referee charged Conor with charging, and whatever verbals took place sparked off a row.

Two reds were flashed to PG1 players, and it truly looked like their goose was cooked until from somewhere they found another gear from somewhere to stage one of the best comebacks ever seen.
