Quote from: APM on August 27, 2024, 09:48:46 PMDerry have made some mess of their recruitment. Two weeks ago they had options - hard to know where they are now

I'd would have been be surprised if they appointed Gallagher, but now they might have no choice. If they had the option of O'Rourke a few weeks back (who would have been an all round better appointment) it's unlikely that he is still an option.

What options? If you think MOR hasn't been nominated or approached you're mad!

It's shambolic. Derry's approach to MOR last year was '...if things don't work out with Rory, would you be interested in taking the job?'
What sort of way is that to let someone know they are second choice before you even start.
Serious question marks regarding ability and judgement by those currently running our county.
Went all in last September thinking they could appoint  Gallagher then panicked with the Harte/devlin poach from Louth.

Micheál Donoghue the Galway Hurling manager for a second time, taking on a four-year term.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Sounds like O'Rourke to Tyrone is happening.

Indeed. The hooers will be straight back feasting at the top table!  ;D

Bit mad all the grief some Tyrone people (and brolly) gave harte about moving to Derry and it's not the ethos of the gaa, but will say nothing about malachy o'rourke if he gets the Tyrone job.

Malachy O'Rourke who has lived in Tyrone over 30 years and won championships with Errigal Ciaran as a player and manager... that Malachy O'Rourke?
Issue with Harte was it was Tyrone's most bitter rivals  and how he just dumped Louth... is Tyrone coaches all over the place in other counties but not the same feeling of betrayal.
Same reason id say Cody didn't shake hands with Shefflin after he moved to Galway

So it would seem.
I would have thought they would go for their U20 manager though?

I'd say Ryan Porter a Tyrone man would certainly want the job.

Yet Glen doubled his wage when Derry came last year to hold on to him.

Exciting appointment- hope he gets it.

I'm sure the Glen players like Glass are disappointed and maybe a bit disgusted. It's bound to sour their relationship and gives rivals like ourselves and slaughtneil a good bit of hope. Any Ulster rivals will be glad to see it also.

Complete and utter horse Manure.
Unless you are the Glen Chair or treasurer or Malachy O'rourke himself, then, like the rest of us, you know feck all about it.

Neither actually. He owes Glen nothing and will leave with all our blessings and good wishes. We've had 3 unbelievable years and himself and Ryan took us to places we'd only previously dreamed about.
Of course we'd have preferred if he was leaving us to take over in Derry but the half hearted approach by our co board last year scuppered that.

Lol.
Akin to being disgusted at your prostitute for taking on another client.
