It's clear the gap between division 1 & 2 is massive. Division 2 standards this year probably as poor as I can remember. Whatever 2 go up will com straight back down.

It will be 2 teams only promoted.
Moy, Greencastle, Moortown and Derrylaughan have proven they can go to Division 1 and win games and survive. Likewise Eglish showed this last year, Pomeroy this year. Clonoe in intermediate last year showed how "wide" this gap is when they didn't win an Intermediate double. Likewise I don't think Ardboe, Coalisland, Clonoe or Edendork win an Intermediate Double next year. And there is nothing straight forward about Clonoe Coalisland Ardboe going to play Moortown Greencastle Moy or Derrylaughan in a relegation play off.
Said all this without mentioning Gortin and Aghyaran who are 1st and 2nd in Div 2

The worst Coalisland team in generations beat Moortown and Moy in play offs last year in second gear. Comfortable in both games. I don't think the gaps massive but I think its a fair comment to say we normally have someone in mind for a rattle at Ulster intermediate and I can't see it this year no?

Even with Clonoe slipping up v the Moy in IFC last year, their supporters would tell you they're poor right now and they went unbeaten in the intermediate league.

Truthsayer

I think is 10 years since Div 1 team lost to Div 2 team in the play-off. Is usually comfortable and you are talking the third best team in second tier.

Gortin are a funny one, I don't think they get the respect their league position commands. They've come out of nowhere to lead to pack going into the last few games.

Wheels look like they've come off in the Moy losing back to back, they struggle without their main men. Momentum seems to be with Aghyaran. I'd tip them to take the league.
Living the dream!!!

Had a quick look at the archive on tyronegaa.ie and also:

2016 - Division 2 Urney beat Division 1 Eglish

2017 - Division 2 Aghyaran beat Division 1 Urney

2018 - Division 2 Dungannon beat Division 1 Aghyaran

2019 - Division 2 Loughmacrory beat Division 1 Eglish

2020 & 2021 No playoffs

Can also mind that Trillick would have went up via playoffs in 2014 and pretty sure Kildress beat Donaghmore to go up in 2015. Last year was actually the first time in a good while that the Division 1 team won the playoff.

Maybe the difference between then and now is that it's a few traditional Senior clubs that are in trouble now and they should beat the Division 2 team comfortable enough.

Ok I stand corrected. Was told that last nite but obviously not accurate.

Maybe Urney in Division 1/Not in Division 1 could be one for the Mandela Effect! I know others who don't remember it either and it was only a few years back really...

Urney were a solid team back then, had lost Intermediate Championship finals to Derrylaughan 2010, Eskra 2013 and Edendork 2015 before getting up.

Division 1 seems to be the kiss of death for some clubs, tatts, eskra, urney, strabane, augher all ended up in 3 not to long after being in 1

smort

Bar Strabane, those clubs wouldnt have the biggest pick. So it's likely they hit on one good group of players, with not much coming behind them

GaaGPT

Killyman also. Strabane also conceding reserve game this year doesn't look great

My thoughts exactly, unlikely Eskra would back up their best ever side with another crop of equivalent quality, a sustained spell in D1 was never on the cards, but getting there was an incredible achievement and a testament to work done for generations. Losing even 1 or 2 to injury or emigration would hit a small club very hard, and some of these clubs have been hit plenty

Shootout for the Junior league this Sunday. Drumquin and Aghaloo tied on points. If Drumquin win against Donaghmore, they win the league.
Hearing there are big celebrations already planned, is there a chance of Donaghmore 3rds pulling off a shock result and the cup being helicoptered over to the Aghaloo game?  ;D
