The reality is around Cargin there are many people who are genuinely miffed at not having a proportionate representation on the county team in relation to their dominance in club football.

That's okay, it's an understandable reaction, and I get where it's coming from.

If you mention this to Andy he might point out that he has invited 7 Cargin players into his squad, the vast majority all became unavailable due to injury. Eunan Benen SON Jamie Pat CJ and I know I've left someone out).

There are many in Cargin who genuinely believe their team would beat Antrim (and by extension of that Sligo Fermanagh etc etc) but hey, that's not a bad mindset to have, even if it is flawed (imo).

Cargin do know how to bring out a victory, they have the dog in them, and you have to admit you'd love that for your club.

So it dosent need to be anti Antrim or anti Cargin.

To me Andys challenge will be trying to find another 20% next year with a fuller and more experienced squad, and if you're from Cargin it simply has to be about getting to an Ulster Club final, at least.

That's how this debate will ultimately be judged.

Either way, we don't have any players that have won a single thing at county level.
We've lined out teams with players who have won buckets of Antrim championships and not a single bit of a difference has it made.
The conveyer belt of almighty trimmings at county juvenile is the indicator of the players we have at this level, not our internal club games.

Bit of Both, Johnston, Mcquillian, Burns, Shivers and Healey from the players that were there should be starting. Bring in Loughran Stewart Small, into the mix. Thats not even naming players that dont want to commit for any reason. Benen Kelly also not even being named in the squad is strange.

Agree with the underage comment think someone external needs to come in and overhaul everything, have the right people in charge etc

Johnston just coming back to fitness and likewise Healey. I thought Healey did not bad but tired and showed he couldn't have done a full game.

Don't agree on Burns or Shivers.

McQuillan I am not sure of. I thought he could have got more gametime and Johnston could have came on but that's about all different I would have done.

100% not close to this level.

Thought they just ran out of energy at the wrong time, Laois got out too easy two kick passes generally had them inside the Antrim defence. Too easy.

Youve named players who arent 100% fit here. Johnston possibly yes but i dont know the extent of his injury or fitness so maybe the management team who see him 3 or 4 times a week would be in a better place to make that call. McQuillan struggled badly against Fermanagh physically. And youve named 3 players who have long term injuries.

Thank god that county shite is finished anyway. Move the focus to clubs now

I suppose you were not born the last time we managed to get to the Ulster football final, was a great occasion that run to the final..

Of course you'd be pissed off at how long that season would have impacted on the club season  ::)
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

I was there, funny enough watched the highlights from the Kerry game that year last week.
Current county team couldn't lace the boots of the majority of that team

You can only pick from what you have available..

Relating club championship was a daft wind up at best.

If players can't commit or injured or the manager has a different view on certain players, that's his call

Maintaining div3 again and good run in Championship and beating Fermanagh is a good season considering the players injured missing not selected

Exactly. Maybe a TC final this year wouldve been good, just to go a step further than last year. Credit to Laois, i thought they were decent. Kicked a lot of good scores and got a slice of luck with the second goal. Also think the occassion maybe got to some of our lads. How many shots had we easily blocked in front of the posts? four or five? But they will be back stronger

What an occassion though. The young and old out and about Croke Park. Sun out, fantastic day out result aside. Hopefully many more to come in the future.

Laois are very up and down with their form but they always produce some very good footballers and they gave us bother. I think we've done well and with another year experience and a number of guys to come back in it is something to definitely build on.

Targets next year should be minimum preserve division 3 status (which will be tough as I think the teams that went up are considerably better than the teams that went down and I would expect Offaly o improve a lot) and try and improve in the TC. Our TC performances have exceeded our league performances really.
