I liked it. The red headed bearded lad was excellent.

David Watkins. A brilliant actor, been in loads of Irish films, the younger priest in Calvary and the Ra man in '71 come to mind.

Its been out a while, but I've watched the first season of Patriot on Prime.
I thought it was really good.

Watching a new documentary on Stax records on HBO Max. Really good so far, with the story of how a tiny Memphis white country music record label, in the racist south, veered into southern soul with its integrated house band, Booker T and the MGs. The second episode is quite an emotional watch if you're somewhat informed, with the pending death of the label's superstar, Otis Redding, hanging over the story as it moves through 1967. It's hard to believe he was only 26 when he died, three days after recording Sitting on the Dock of the Bay.

The name Booker T reminds me of Youtube documentary I saw recently by a guy called Peter Santenello. He goes around American backwaters and does his own videos and interviews people. He does a brilliant job I have to say.

He did one in the Mississippi Delta, got showed around by a local by the name of Booker T, done well for himself in the big city, but moved back to where he grew up. It's a fantastic watch.

Really got into Eastenders recently. It's a great show set in London and regards the hilarious escapades of Londoners around a pub scenario. Sometimes it goes well and there is a romance or two and sometimes it goes haywire and someone gets scalded alive on an electronic train track.

Outer Range is a bit of a mixed bag.  The first season (with the exception of a poor opening episode) is pretty great.  Second season a bit of a letdown after that, but watchable.  Like a lot of US shows, a bit too heavy on the treacle.

I was more thinking how can you follow the gravitas of Harrison Ford and Dennehy as his boss. I appreciate that Jake Gyllenhaal is a good actor but it looks like the equivalent of casting Tom Cruise  as lead in a Ben Hur or Spartacus remake. Would you believe Jake if he stepped forward and stated "I am Spartacus"?

Watching Sugar with Colin Farrell, enjoying it. Highly stylised, arty, film schooly but good with 4/8 watched.

Feels like Apple TV does seem to produce a bit more high brow shows than the other streamers?

I really enjoyed Sugar.

Wasn't for me. Bit too arty. Kept waiting for it to catch fire but never quite got there.
