You would have fancied Liverpool to beat that Bayern team handy enough from what I seen of them in the 2 legs.

Capt Pat

You would but I still fancy Liverpools chances a hell of a lot more against Villareal :) a great result for Pool tonight.

Although likely, we ain't through yet...I remember Benfica coming to Anfield in 2006 and winning 2-0

You have to be a little bit wary about tonight. If they score first, then the mindset of both teams is that the score is 3-2, rather than 0-1. That could make us a bit more nervy. I'll relax when  we score our 2nd!

Regarding the result last night, I'm a bit torn. Clearly Bayern are the better team and in the end all that matters is getting to the final. But 2 legs v Villarreal will consist of one team playing football and the other parking the bus and trying to hit on the break. Liverpool v Bayern would have been two teams going hell for leather at each other for 180 minutes, heaps of goals guaranteed and a great scalp for the victors.

Villareal are hard to guage.  No great shakes in the Spanish league but are set up to do well in Europe.  They well be well organised and stubborn to break down.  The fact they've beaten Bayern away says something about them.  Maybe Bayern are not at the level they were at a couple of years ago, but it's still an indicator of the threat Villareal can pose.  Liverpool have to beat Benfica first, obviously.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Milltown Row2

They only drew with Bayern in Bayern but over the tie were better overall

No punch with Bayern at all.
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Capt Pat

He never usually drops Van Dijk and Salah. He is taking a big risk here. I thought he would play his first choice team tonight and rest players against City in the cup.

I agree.

Benfica get the first goal and its all to play for.

On the bright side though, there are five subs allowed.

Ah lads it's not like he's put the U21s out. That starting 11 would probably still beat every Premier League club bar Man City. 5 subs allowed also so no panic even if we do go behind.
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.
