Capt Pat

It looks like we will be knocked out of the cup by Shrewsbury now. Why was Matip taken off, was he injured?

From the Bunker

That's the cost of Premier League and Champions League Success!
There is a revolving door of players going on and off the treatment table.
You see Utd play Rashford in the Cup and pay a heavy price.
Sadly the FA Cup is becoming a nuisance for Premiership and even Championship sides.

Is it not a 'feck you' to the FA and premier league regarding having a winter break and then having the possibility of replays in it?

Rightly so.

What about the fans who fork out big money only to see a B team or the youth team?

One would hope the club will drop the ticket prices for the replay.

Fans have also been given a couple weeks notice.

That's not Klopp's problem. Go to a premier league game if you don't like it. By the way, a B team or a youth player deserves just as much support as a first teamer, they're wearing the jersey. I hope you're not getting tickets if that's your attitude.

Strange game yesterday. Shrewsbury absolutely deserved to get something out of the game and fair play to them, their forwards created more problems than a lot of premier league teams.I think it demonstrated just how important our first choice defense is, both attacking and defending. Lovren bring the ball out of defense just does not cut it. Up front the difference in class when Bobby and Mo came on was immediately obvious in terms of movement. Minimiano is still trying to fit in but Elliott was the brightest of the first three early on although Origi came into it later in the game.

I agree with Klopp on the replay stance, he has bigger priorities and if the FA was going to give a break why schedule replays in that period? However, if I was Fabinho/Matip/Lovren I would be asking Klopp (or Critchley) to play in that game as it was obvious all three need game time. They were seriously rusty. Fabinho's passing in particular was awful at times.

Klopp is entitled to do what he likes here.

But seeing as winning the title is little more than a formality from here, meaning there are opportunities for rest and squad rotation for the rest of the season on non-CL weeks, it would seem that Klopp is putting greater stock in going unbeaten in the league, than winning the FA Cup.

——

One other discussion point. When did football change concept whereby managers feel entitled to have a fit and rested squad available for every game? Not digging at Klopp here, for its mainly Guardiola who has been giving off recently about replays and second tier trophies. But is is the point of a scheduled league calendar not that your team/squad/club has a fixed number of games in a time window, which happen regardless of circumstance? Would it be wrong for the media to point this out to managers?

Like United when they pulled out of the FA Cup due to fixture congestion?  It's been happening for years so it's not a recent thing.

imtommygunn

The FA cup has never been the same since that. The premier league  teams put a lot less stock in it.

Maiden1

They play Shrewsbury on the 4th Feb and then don't have another match until the 15th so they can't complain too much about fixture congestion.  Sounds more like most of the team have holidays booked for straight after the Southampton game on the 1st Feb that they are not for changing.
There are no proofs, only opinions.

Ambrose.

A simple "actually, Klopp does have a history of paying world record fees for mature players who will slot straight into the first team" would have sufficed.

Or you can keep reversing over a carcass if you like.

But it's already dead.

Up to you.

You're an awful arrogant w**ker.

Anthony seems to have a few issues regarding LFC. Obviously losing the Champions League final in Madrid is still fresh in his mind, as are the recent defeats both home and away in the league, but his issues are clearly a lot more deep rooted than those recent results.

LFC could save a lot of time and effort if they had a black armband sewn into their kit design.

Away to Chelsea in the cup if they get past Shrewsbury

Capt Pat

The reserves wouldn't beat Chelsea in the cup. Maybe it is best that it ends with Shrewsbury.

Surely get past Shrewsbury then you're in a better position to at least look at Liverpool's fixtures before throwing out the reserve team again against Chelsea.

The league is done, and depending on the A Madrid game...
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Is tonight's game on anywhere? Or has anyone any links?
