£65M keeper beaten at his near post??  What a complete Laois-bag!! ;D ;D

Who are you cheering for tonight? Cos you are watching the Champions regardless!  ;D

Surely nothing this bellend says surprises you?

Watched the full game, and bar the result, was a great battle played at a hectic pace. Too many below par performances from Liverpool players yet could have got something out of the game. A 2 horse race with a fairly sizable gap to 3rd.

2 points?

I meant at the end of the season Boycey.. Though there may only be 2 then too, who knows!

Disappointing but at the start of December we were about to fall 4 points behind City then Origi got the winner in the last minute at Everton. Fast forward a month and we are 4 points clear. It can all change very quickly but for now I am happy.

I assume he rests van Dijk and Salah for the trip to Wolves in the cup as we have bigger fish to fry in the league and champions league.

Rest Salah? He needs to get goals for his confidence. Pretty poor bar penalties this year

How they react now will be key. Getting beaten in this game doesn't fill me with confidence. Huge shift momentum wise towards City.

Look you're hurting it's fine, but if you think Salah is a player that needs resting then you are a fuckwit

Haven't a clue? You need to explain to me why me saying he doesn't need a rest is me not having a clue? Other than that you've said nothing, but carry on

Tough loss for Liverpool. City really had to dig deep there and that was a different kind of performance from what you associate with them. Serious hard work when the chips were down and Liverpool were on the rise. Kompany could have seen red easily and that would have changed everything.

It will go down to the wire and should be great viewing for the neutral!

Kompany lead with the studs and should have walked. Another ref bottles it when a big call is the right one. Man City played like a team who needed the win more and just about deserved it. If  Gomez or matip(yes even him) where on instead of Loveren then it's at least a draw. Still 4 up but it's how the players respond that dictates the rest of the season.

City player wrestled to the ground in the box, thought ref missed a few in the game tbh

Refs can't get everything right I know that but they shouldn't miss the tackles that could break a players leg. Look at the footage only Salah seen it coming and lifted his leg it could have been real nasty, Ref bottled it for sure. Still I don't think Liverpool played well enough tonight to earn 3 points.

Strange game. Liverpool outplayed for large parts of it but probably had 3 goalline scrambles that could easily have went in. The Kompany tackle I have to say I thought a yellow was the right call at the time. What I would say is that I thought Kompany took the opportunity to take man and ball but I missed the post match/HT analysis. By the comments on here I will have to get another look.

Fabinho made a difference when he came on. Liverpool's front three were well marshalled, largely due to Fernandinho cutting out the space in between the lines that Firmino/Mane like to get into. He was outstanding and really shows how important he is to City. Sane was very good as well. City did nt actually create that many clear cut chances bar a couple at the end where Liverpool were chasing the game.

As for Liverpool, everything was a just a bit off. Lovren was poor. He was caught out for pace just before the first goal when Sane pressured him into a mistake and he gave the ball away and  was then way too far off Agero for the actual goal itself. The striker should never have been allowed to get that shot away, even as good a strike as it was. He is also so much less comfortable on the ball than the rest of the back four. City were happy to let him have it and then force a mistake. It does show that Liverpool have an issue at backup CB. No recognised backup on the bench

The whole "game of inches" really came into play last night and unfortunately Liverpool were on the wrong side of all them, (possibly making up for the Derby goal!).

-Mane hits post and comes back into play rather than going in
-Stones clear off line (just! :-\)
-Stones clearance misses Salah
-Aguero strike just misses Allison's hand
-Sane hits post and ball rolls along line and goes in rather than back into play

Looking forward, hopefully Gomez is back in a couple of weeks to solidify at the back. I think Liverpool are more likely that City to loose at least one of the Spurs/United/Chelsea games and potentially be frustrated by a couple of lower teams in games while I do not see City dropping too many more points. That being said, if you had told me at the start of December that the City game was out of the way and there was a four point gap I would have snapped your arm off and wondered how much we beat them by at the Etihad!

Game on!

Didn't think it was a red card myself.
