The Sanchez transfer was probably Woodward showing City who were the big dogs in the transfer market.
He hasn't fitted in hugely well, so you'd wonder who wanted him the most.
The jersey thing is probably not that relevant. If kids didn't have Sanchez, they'd just pick another player instead to go on the back of their jersey.

I don't think its much different now as well run clubs still don't allow players to run the show. Isn't Antonio Valencia still first choice captain? Mourinho choice of captains when Valencia doesn't play are a bit bizarre Ashley Young tonight another example.

Good players do the simple things well and lead by example by working as hard for their team as any player than needing a style of play to perform well consistently.  Pogba was arguably Uniteds worst player against Brighton and it was his error than led to the only goal Wolves scored at the weekend the same Wolves that offensive Man City only drew with this season also.

The why could be trying to please a very moody and attention seeking footballer but for a team going through troubled times Pogba was never captain material for United.
