The club could be holding out until they have a replacement lined up though and at the same time milk a few more mill out of Barca nearer the deadline. Bit more risky for Barca though.  They would be wise to have other options lined up.

They're pursuing Dembele at the same time, and he's probably going to end up being a better player than Coutinho ever will be. Way younger too.

Coutinho is probably scared shitless that if Dembele goes to Barca and lights it up they will have little interest in him next summer and he'll be stuck with the penny pinchers in Anfield. The Boston lads are behaving like they are building a moneyball baseball team and not a soccer team capable of challenging for honours.

Jeez, think how much hippy crack the Liverpool squad could buy with £114m!  ;D

If they are penny pinchers why are they refusing a bid of £114 million you idiot. Also they were prepared to pay £70million for Kieta and similar for VVD.
Go back to taking shite about your poxy Roscommon sheepmen that got humiliated against Mayo.
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

You're talking about two deals where they failed to purchase anything but a black eye as if it showed any ambition. Ambition would be signing players, not talking about them.

The only reason Coutinho hasn't been sold is because they know full well they have no replacement and are unwilling to spend the money required to get one at short notice. It's effecting Liverpool far more than it is Barca.

Captain Obvious

119 million pound offered and likely to rise for Coutinho. Has Ed Woodward taken over the transfer dealings with Barcelona? Liverpool should keep holding out and see how much of over the top offer they can receive.

This is a weird one. Especially with the kind of money on offer.

Do they not run the risk of disruption in the camp if they fail to sell him and he's forced to return?

Or are they holding out for 120?

Thats daft money.  I can only assume that liverpool will turn it down until they have a replacement more or less signed. Otherwise its wait until January and Leipsig might play ball on Keita.
He will be sold on deadline day I reckon.
It would be mad money to turn down now at this stage. By all  accounts he wants to go. No point in keeping him if he really wants out.
Take the money and run. If he's not playing there is no benefit to having him.

You think come Sept 1st if he is still a Liverpool player, he won't play for us?

He probably will but the fact he won't want to might need thought out a bit more....

Worked out ok with De Gea I suppose.

Except De Gea has chosen to stay, rather than be forced to after submitting a transfer request.  Quite a difference.

Two Hands FFS

Yeah choose to stay & never agreed to join Madrid. Liverpool  just need a dodgy fax machine too

Liverpool's in the box seat on this on, with all the power.  They don't have to nor need to sell Coutinho.  Barca's the one with the difficulty. They must get a signing quickly, to placate their supporters after Neymar's exit.  If Coutinho stays he'll be playing as usual.  It's just wishful thinking to suggest he won't.
That's just, like your opinion man.

80 million up front and 30 odd million in add ons.  Liverpool are dead right to hold out.  Barca got their 220 million up front from PSG.  If they want or need Coutinho so bad then they will pay the whole lot up front.
Despite Coutinho going Liverpool needed a few players still to fill out squad.  Don't see much progress with this!

The only reason they got it up front was because there was no negotiation as it was a release clause fee that needed to be paid in full to be triggered. Pretty much none of these big money transfers are all up front.
