I thought Clyne & Gomez where both very good,as was Benteke.
Liverpool didn't play particularly well and Bournemouth gave a good account of themselves, but they didn't really create many good chances at the same time.
I actually thought the disallowed goal was a foul, he climbed on Lovren, although as Carragher said, you need your CB to be stronger  and tighter marking not to allow a run on you like that.
As for the Benteke goal, given the new offside rule, Coutinho was offside (although I don't think it made a whole lot of difference, the keeper wasn't saving that from Benteke anyway)
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either

Was it as good as the hurling on Sunday?  ;)

Agree about Bournemouth goal - the lad himself said he was climbing on Lovren.  However,  it's mostly let go at that level.

As for Liverpool goal, I can't believe that last season it would have been legitimate.  Coutinho was clearly active and put the keeper off. I must be seriously out of touch if that was anything BUT offside in ANY season.

Did not see either game so far except for highlights,  but indications are that they have not been too hot. Could be in for a rude awakening next Monday.

Bingo

Couldn't ask for a better start. 6 from 6, 2 clean sheets and look very solid at the back.

Seems to be some negativity about the performances but bar City, no one is setting the world on fire. Tough away to Stoke and coming up against a very good footballing side who are full of spirit, freshness and have been together for all of last season. Early in the season is about getting results and the performances will follow.

In the two games, and despite conceding large spells of possession, Liverpool haven't been at the pin of their collars and Mignolet hasn't been making too many saves. The two full backs look very solid and offer lots that wasn't there last year in that they seem to know how to defend.

Going forward  - plenty of room for improvement but this is the one area that has seen the most changes, in personnel and style. Will take a few weeks yet but signs are there. I think the sooner they get Henderson and Milner further forward the better, be this Can or Lucas sitting in and minding the shop.

The forward players still getting there in terms of fitness and knowing each other, so give it a few weeks.

A lot to be positive about but a lot of work to do.

PS - It was a goal and it wasn't a goal!

Moreno did very well when he came on I thought. We might see him in that position a bit more this season, epecially as a substitute.

Meant to say I really enjoyed his wee cameo last night, crowd seemed to as well. Doubt he could keep that up for 90 full minutes mind you! Looked like a man out to make a point.

Also, thought Lallana was very poor first half, a player under pressure who didn't want to make a mistake, so got rid of the play early and safely. Second half he was much improved and grew into game, a few decent runs at pace and took a few more chances. Worked well back. Still a lot to do and needs to offer a lot more but the full game will help him hopefully. At Southampton he worked well having a target man to pick out.

Is this a Freudian slip related to what shouldn't work but does? :)

The first 2 games have shown signs that some of the problem areas from last season and before are some way to being sorted.  Look more organised at the back and have a striker with movement, pace and physical power who can stretch teams and pin them back and hold the ball up.  The play is more direct with the onus on getting the ball in behind for Benteke fairly quick. No more looking for an option sideways or back. The first instinct is to get it forward quick.   The new signings are doing well and all bring a good bit of pace and aggression.  Very early days but promising signs. It's back on!

On another note, i thought Liverpool lost momentum in that game last night with Henderson going off.  Proving to be a really important player.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Henderson is a good player lads. I'm sick saying it. It's not his fault he's not Stevie G. He tries really hard, and his passing has improved. I read a stat last night that he has the most assists of any English player since last February or something like that, with 10. That's not bad considering Liverpool scored f**k all last season.
