Well done lads. No complaints and lucky not to be down to 9 men at the end.

Jeepers Creepers

Utd we're doing their best not to win it. Red card sparked a bit of life into pool so maybe it was planned ;). Good finish for Matas first and take a bow for the second. Utd should have went for the jugular but didn't and could have cost them. Gerard won't sleep well tonight, crazy stuff.  Didn't expect to take 6 points from last two games so hats off. Was hoping for a falcoa goal to seal it ..ah nevermind. Villa next up.

yellowcard

Tactical masterclass from LVG today. Got it spot on in the first half and totally bossed the midfield at Anfield. I'd fancy Utd to go on and get 2nd based on that display today. Beat City at OT and they will go above them.

Over the Bar

Stevie G's contribution today in many ways is a microcosm of an entire career spent in United's shadow.  His epitaph in the Annals of United v Liverpool rivalry will read "Somewhat irrelevant".

If they can maintain that type of performance,  you may well be right.

I'M SOME HEADER!!!!

Excellent performance but United nearly paid for some sloppiness in the second half which would have been a killer. After the rugby and Huget's tap penalty yesterday I didn't need the stress!!!

LVG had a big decision to make before kickoff which he got right (despite the Worker's wishful thinking). The Tottenham game wasn't because Spurs were shite as practically the entire British soccer media thought - and it was important for this game to keep the same team. The first half was almost perfect. Should have had another goal and a bit of a lapse allowed Liverpool a glorious chance they should have scored. I was still laughing at them bringing on slippy Stevie when he got the red card. Muppet. Unfortunately United didn't play up to the same level in the second half and went a wee bit negative after the 2nd goal. I fell if they'd kept the tempo up and passed it they could have destroyed Liverpool. Credit to them though they kept going and made a game of it.

Happy with most of the United team.  DeGea did well. Think he was slightly in wrong position for the goal but he would have saved it without the small deflection it got. Back 4 all did their jobs. Smalling growing into his role, Blind more comfortable at LB. Mata, Herrera, Young all moved the ball well and carried a threat. Carrick a Rolls Royce again, such a key player in this setup. Thought Falcao did ok when he came in too. Fellaini had a huge impact again. Thought Rooney was really poor today. Had been better recently since he went back up front but he didn't play well today. Almost expected him to miss the penalty. Di Maria when he came on too was poor, despite the assist for Mata's 2nd. I reckon he's afraid of his life. I'd usually be all for giving players time but I honestly now reckon the Premier League is not for him.

Liverpool are not out of it yet. I expect they'll win most of their games and be in the hunt if anyone slips up. There are a lot of games involving the top 5 or 6 so a lot can happen yet.

Looking forward to seeing who is on MOTD. Hope stinks of piss is on with a sour puss on him.

Rumour mata is dropped for di Maria  :o
Great call😉

Was a great call indeed. It would have been foolish to drop mata, and that's how it panned out.

It remains a mystery as to why he was out in the cold for so long tbf.

Great win & performance its a long time since i saw a United side that controlled a game so much in Anfield before especially in the 1st half. Significant away win against what was the form side in the Premier league. Hopefully United can now push on for the top 4 finish.

On another note aren't Moyes signings playing well now maybe next season we will see the best of LVG signings.
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

I agree but the great thing about LVG is that he is open to changing his mind and has improved the team bit by bit all season. He has tried things and if they haven't worked, he tries something different. I still can't believe Jose sold Mata to United.

Some half decent analysis there ruined by childish name calling. Pity.

United were very good yesterday but a lot of fans getting carried away me thinks.
I see someone called that a tactical masterclass from LVG yesterday!?
Ffs Gary Monk did the same thing with Swansea on Monday night! It was hardly rocket science.
For all Uniteds good play in the first half I can't really remember too many clear cut chances. Apart from the goal obviously.
Liverpool nearly undone all Uniteds good work then with a fantastic move which they really should have scored from.

Madness then from Gerrard in the second half which ruined any chance I feel of Liverpool getting a result but in fairness they played a lot better with 10 men.
Brilliant goal from Mata to seal it for United.

I said last week United will get 4th as I thought Liverpool had so much ground to make up they left themselves no room for dropping points.
It's not over yet for them but I think next weekend could put an end to it for them.

Are you lecturing me about name calling?

Does this jog your memory?

QuoteLiverpool the better team again but I think they will pay for all those missed chances.
The tie should be well over by now with all the chances.
Costa is a vile human being.
