Liverpool have had a flash in the pan one good season surrounded by mediocrity. The fact is Spurs over the last 5 years, have been more consistent contenders for a champions league spot, and I can only weep when I observe the likes of Modric and Bale steering Real Madrid to this season's Champions League win.

As someone said we sold Elvis and replaced him with Showwadywaddy!

Yes, Spurs have been consistent, consistently mediocre!!!!

In the last 4 seasons we have qualified for the Champions league once , exactly the same number of times as Liverpool, and indeed it would have been twice had Chelsea not stolen the trophy in 2012.

As a Celtic fan I'd gladly take Liverpool in champions league group next year. They'd brick it in front of 60,000 at Celtic park.

Brilliant prize.

But.

Asked the same question..supposedly it's a home player man of the match prize, always given out, seperate to the usual one...can't see a Newcastle player getting that one either to be honest!

It has been a great season for Liverpool the year. Exciting football,  CL next season all marshaled by one of our own.

People now getting their speak in about how good a season it has been? 8 days ago Liverpool were favorites for the title and Stevie Me of all people sh1t his togs and threw it away. Excellent as far as I a concerned but it shows how small time this clubs supporters have come that they are happy to be second or third after being in such a position. Or maybe they just not big enough to express their disappointment. The predictable fall next year will add to my 25 year enjoyment of watching Liverpool fail.  ;D

You couldn't call this season a failure after all the improvements made by the team. Apart from Gerrard this team is only going to get better. Players like Sterling, Coutinho and Flanagan are all just starting off their careers.

Favorites yes but still had to play a team who will finish no lower than third? Disappointing  but Hardly throwing it away. If I were you I would be more concerned about getting your own house in order as Liverpool fans know only too well, once you start to slip it can be hard to get back.

Anyway, I know which team I would rather be supporting when the season comes to an end,  one that has supportive owners, a young squad, champions league to look forward to and the benefit that will give when strengthening the squad and one of Europe's brightest young managers. Alternatively, an ageing squad full of players who don't seem to give a toss and no manager. Yes the manager will be a big name and you have the money to invest but that's no guarantee.

Given your track record with predictions your optimism is an added bonus.

Their "big name" manager is still living off the glory of a European cup from 20 years ago and currently plying his trade in the semi-retirement arena of international soccer. I can't wait to see him come in and work with  the considerable midfield talent of Young, Carrick, Fellani, Cleverly and Nani. It's going to be some craic.

Not a truer word spoken on this site!  Have to say allot of the Liverpool fans on here were losing the run of themselves. A 16 game unbeaten run since Christmas with only 2 draws. Jez it's hard to see where we had the notion of a good season. Can we have a more public show of disappointment. Crying on the streets maybe? Looking for Rodgers to get the sack? Looking for Gerrards head after last Sunday?

J OGorman

Everybody enjoys the craic and a laugh with supporters of rival teams.  But some of the posts on here are worse than useless. EC is a comedy genius in his own head and fair play to him. As for the resident Spurs fan, he's a bit of a fanny

Chelsea draw........ its down till 2.
