Last night and the whole window seems to have been a right royal fcuk up. Side show bob will help the midfield but more was required.

Fellaini for £28m???

Could Moyes be a double agent doing a good turn for his old club? That fee's ridiculous and Andy Carrollesque! f**king Van Persie cost them less than that! You would think Fergie could have given a hand with the negotiating at least.

1. Get a small time manager in

2. Play poorly against 2 of your biggest rivals

3. Sign an over rated player for a ridiculous amount of money

4. Don't sign anyone of noted quality

Carlseberg don't do United seasons ... YEEEEEOOOOOO!!!!

Give him a chance I would have preferred a more creative player then Fellaini but he is obviously a decent a player and has good ability. Comparing him to Andy Carroll is Ott,. Fellaini is a regular International with a Belguim team full of Quality and a key player for them. I don't think Carroll had one Cap for England when Liverpool signed him.

No goals in 3 hours. United are starting to look like Everton last season. If things continue like this, Moyes will be under pressure by Christmas.

I'm on the record as saying he's a 2nd rate manager.

I have to agree. A team like Everton is his level. I gave him two seasons at United, maximum. It could be a lot shorter.

Moyes has inherited an aging squad (who need invigorated) and a team of average joes in Cleverly, Young, Nani, Anderson, etc, etc.

Fergusons greatest achievement was to win an EPL with that bunch, but he was helped with City and Chelsea imploding at the same time.

Really?

De Gea, Rafael, Fabio, Buttner, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Cleverly, Anderson, Powell, Welbeck, Zaha, Janujaz, Hernandez all under 25 and most of those are sniffing around the matchday squads.

I wouldn't think their average starting XI age is any older than many other teams, even with Giggs in it.
De Gea could be good, Rafael is OK, Hernandez is good IMO but under utilized by both Ferguson and Moyes so far. The rest are hardly going to strike fear into the top clubs in Europe, now are they, average joes.

As for Fellaini, he according to some isn't a United player, how arrogant and ignorant a statement is that as he eats and shíts out the Utd midfield and defence every time he plays against them. IMO he'll be a good signing for you if deployed the right way and now he dons the red of united he'll get a lot more leeway from referees.

I read that liine about him not being a United player too, takes one journalist to spout that then it becomes contagious.  He has bossed United and the majority of the big games I have seen him in over the last few years, and apparently was played further up the field at Everton than where he specialises yet still made the highest number of successful tackles and passes.  United have for a few years lacked physicality in the middle, a real ball winner.  Our midfield has been too easy to by pass, and although we haven't addressed the pressing issue of getting more creativity in there (why no Ozil?) I am very happy at getting Fellaini as he will give us something we have missed since Hargreaves/Fletcher.

Guillem Balague saying on Twitter that the Coentrao deal is off.
Was it the same imposters who done the deal for Herrera that done the Coentrao deal  :D

Yeah, that's right the deal did not complete.  It all depended on RM getting the guy Sigueira in to replace him but he had already joined Benfica.   Rumblings starting to surface that Moyes isn't up to  the job.  Time will tell but I think he is over-awed by the enormity of it all.

1) You said Moyes has inherited an aging squad - he hasn't.

2) Average Joes?  Come on, don't be silly.

Another aside to the coentrao deal, moyes has pushed all summer and bidded for leighton baines, very good player, but this was at a time when patrice evra was playing particularly well, and the all of a sudden he switches his attention to coentrao? What must Evra think? Does Moyes not value him? he pushed for two left backs, one who isnt even an international starter toreplace the starting leftback, and former captain of france?
Was a bit bemused by that one.

Think Fellaini is a cracking signing ............................if played as a defensive midfielder

EC Unique

Bit early to be righting off Moyes. He needs and deserves time. There is no doubt that Fellaini is a good signing but more was required with him especially another creative midfielder. I would like to know what is going on with Kagawa, I really liked the look of him last season before he got injured.

Premier Emperor

Utd will make millions selling Fellaini wigs to their fans.

Exactly, he will be brilliant if deployed where he is meant to play.  Can't believe we haven't brought in a creative player though, really disappointed.  As mentioned, shocking to not see Kagawa appear yet either.

Well yes, it became apparent they weren't going to get Baines and did the logical thing - try and get someone else. Unfortunately they fucked it up. Coentrao can also play in midfield which would have been attractive once they ballsed up the Herrera deal. Rather than not rate Evra (who is in decline and getting on a bit), I'd say it's more a reflection that he doesn't rate Buttner.

By all accounts, Everton were never comfortable with selling Baines in the first place and weren't having any of a joint bid for him and Fellaini. United only split the bids yesterday and in doing so offered no more money for Baines than they had as part of the joint offer. Daft.

rodney trotter

Coentrao would have been a very good signing. According to Twitter Moyes was never interested in Signing Ozil. They spent too long tracking Fabregas, when that deal was never going to happen.

Best players 30 or over , Vidic, age 31, Ferdinand, 34, Van Persie 30, Giggs, 65.

Rooney is 27 and is still one of their effective players, the rest I mentioned are what I'd term functional players, give them a menial task and they'll do fine, some not even. Anderson, Nani, Young, Fabio, Cleverly, Jones, Evans wouldn't get a sniff of a start at any other team in Europe with serious ambitions of CL glory.

Serious dead wood in that squad.

I thought David Gill was bad but this Woodward guy looks like some fool. Embarrassing end to a badly mismanaged transfer window. I'm sceptical about Fellaini but I've been wrong before (a certain centre forward with a list of misdemeanours signed from Leeds was one!) and hope to be wrong again. When you see Ozil going to Arsenal then Fellaini underwhelms.

Like others I can't understand what the situation is with Kagawa. With Rooney out for Sunday he surely should have got at least a half an hour. He is quality but Moyes seems to value functionality above all else. I don't agree that "he needs time" - he took over the reigning champions FFS. It's not like he has to change a lot. If United lose to City in a couple of weeks he is already in trouble.

Funny how this deadwood won the the premier league with plenty to spare last year and were unlucky to go out against Real Madrid in the champions league.

So what if Vidic/RVP/Evra/Carrick are around 30?  They're showing no signs of slowing down.  They all have a few good years left yet.

Aye, the idea that Fellaini is 'not a United player' seems to have gone viral. Maybe he won't be good enough. But the boy clearly has talent and he might be just the ticket.
