A joke really. How you can be serious about challenging even for top 4/5 when you can't sign one body on transfer day.

Rodgers said yesterday it be madness to move on Carroll if they hadn't a replacement for him.
I guess they prefer the madness at Anfield.
Fecking joke.

Disappointing to say the least and this transfer window had started so brightly too. At least we still have Joe Cole.  :o

QuoteLiverpool's owners and Ian Ayre's tactics have backfired.

They were hopeful of signing Clint Dempsey on a permanent deal from Fulham and Daniel Sturridge on a loan deal from Chelsea. Interest in Theo Walcott ended two days ago.

They contacted Chelsea regarding taking Sturridge on loan and continued discussions with the club, depending on Loic Remy's move to Chelsea.

They allowed Andy Carroll to join West Ham on loan - for a worse deal than was previously offered to them, having rejected it - in the hope they could sign Sturridge today. However, Chelsea were unable to complete the deal for Remy earlier today which has meant they've rejected Sturridge moving late on in the window.

Liverpool then went in for Clint Dempsey once again in the hope they could sign the American. However, the club's earlier attempts in the transfer window to sign Dempsey has meant Fulham are unwilling to sell to Liverpool for a lower price.

As it stands, Liverpool will have to pay an excessive amount for Dempsey or be faced with having two main strikers at the club till January.

Ian Ayre has taken a massive gamble by selling Andy Carroll hoping Chelsea could complete a deal for Remy in time which has backfired massively on the club.

Absolute jokeshop.

Suarez will have to play every single game by the looks of it. League and cups. And probably make the tea as well. And when the inevitable injury comes...

Liverpool FC actually deserved to be laughed at tonight.
You couldn't make this mess up.
What a joke.

This is about the height of it..........

@philmcnulty Seems very much like tonight was the night Brendan Rodgers picked up the tab for £100m spending under Kenny Dalglish. #bbcfootball

@AnfieldCat: Brendan Rodgers just came into the pub for a pint. I asked him for his autograph, he refused, guess he really isn't signing anything tonight

Out

Kuyt
Maxi
Aurelio
Bellamy
Amoo
Darby
Aquilani
Carroll
Adam
Spearing
Ecclestone

In
Borini
Allen
Sahin
Assaidi
Yesil

Of the players that left, none would have been first 11 week in, week out,  Borini, Allen and Sahin will be, Assaidi will play a fair bit but mostly a squd addition and very cheap, Yesil not so much but is a good prospect.  Sterling has pushed himself up to the first team sqaud as a regular and will play a lot, Morgan is not quite there yet but has the raw talent to score goals.  There should have been a striker brought in but lets be honest who is available that will come to us at the minute?  I am also not overly bothered about Dempsey not coming in, he could be a good acquisition but he could just as easily be Charlie Adam.  Outside of players coming in Skertl and Saurez hve signed improved contracts and Agger and Suso expected to sign new ones next week.  It hasn't been a great one but hasn't been a terrible one either.

From the Bunker

Time to steady the ship. Too many players have been purchased for a quick fix the last couple of seasons. The words revolving door come to mind. Players on loan and on loan again, untill their contracts are over and they are worth feck all of their purchase and have enhanced the club very little. Europa, FA and League Cups will have to be treated as second/Third fiddle, the squad is not there if thinking of CL Qualification. Rodgers has been left with some dodgy costly purchases from Hodgson and Dalglish.

Completely agree From the Bunker, KK overall legacy has not been tarnished in my eyes but the club has been badly affected by the signings carried out under his watch. FSG have every right to be cautious as a huhe whack of money was spent with little return to date. (Will keep it tight for the next 3 months and hopefully get a bit of momentum and who knows what might happen if Saurez, Gerard et al stay fit and out of trouble?

I'll think we will be alright with what we have till Christmas at least and the next window opens but it still has to be said the club fcuked up big time today.
Rodgers had said himself it be crazy not bringing anyone in after letting the others go.
I would say he is rightly pissed off tonight.

Liverpool have knocked nearly half a million of the weekly wage bill this Summer and they can't afford to shell out an extra 2 million to buy a player who scored 17 league goals from midfield last season.

Really?
