Of course they would take the money. They are still doing the same work as an MP. They just don't take the trip over to Westminster to sit in an empty chamber. The old saying goes 'The fastest way to clear the chamber for a fire is to announce a debate on Northern Ireland issues'

Quote from: Truth hurts on October 30, 2025, 09:36:50 AMWill we still be the whipping boys in the junior championship in Ulster?

Depends what championship your talking about.

In hurling I can see Castlewellan giving it a fair rattle and are a strong choice. They have been there or there abouts for years, but lets be honest any team that wins the Junior provincial championship was never a Junior team to begin with.

In Derry Lavy won their 'Junior' I didn't watched the game but seen it was an easy win for them.
They would be my favourites but I also wouldn't call them a Junior team.

EDIT:
Just seen Cuchulainns Armagh are their champions. They were Senior a couple years back. They must have went down hill dramatically but were competing with Keady and Middletown not long ago.

Armagh have also changed their championship were their Senior champions go into Ulster Intermediate and then their Intermediate go into Ulster Junior. Their actually Junior championship just stops within the county. Nice idea to always have a strong representative.
Who approves this? Is it the county that decides it or does Ulster council have to agree to it?

The most frustrating thing about this trial is now the gloating from Unionist politicians. 'Not guilty' does not equal 'innocent'. Think of all of the rapists, sexual abusers and child abusers that get let off because there isn't 'sufficient evidence' or witnessess don't want to speak out or can't speak out.

Quote from: GTP on October 13, 2025, 08:03:08 PMThe rule is a player who commits a foul while in possession must hand the ball back to the nearest opponent in a prompt and respectful manner. Patsy didn't commit a foul whilst in possession so didnt have to hand the ball back. He did delay the free being taken so there is probably justification to bring the free forward. You can disagree with the outcome but since we dont really know why it was moved you can't say it was definitely wrong. The two point arc is going to cause plenty of controversy, with Shane inside the arc with his back foot on the line it didn't look like a 2 pointer as the kick looks to be taken inside the arc. A pretty difficult call for anyone to make.
Don't think any conspiracy against S'Neil just didn't have quite enough over the 60 mins.
Is it in the rules that a referee has to point the the direction of the free or do all players need to be telepathic?

Annaclone pip neighbours Clann Na Banna to make it to the Intermediate final. Bit of controversy will plague the final score of the game as it looked like Annaclone two-pointer to win the game was kicked from inside the arc.

Tom Mc'Carroll and Odhran Murdock look like a future county midfield pairing. Carryduff certainly more physical all across the field which nulified Burrens flair players

Quote from: befair on September 21, 2025, 01:43:11 AMHeard that St Johns won by 1 pt, Attical disputed the final score.
From what i've heard from ones, some neutrals had the game as a draw. Referee had St johns as winners by a point. Atticall watched video of the game and it was a draw on the evidence they watched.

I was shocked the last knock-on in the lineout wasn't looked at as a deliberate act. She made no attempt to flick the ball back and just stuck her hand out at it

Quote from: From the Bunker on August 30, 2025, 12:10:51 PMA lot of tough ties there.

''Each club will collect a fixed payment of €18.62 million for reaching the league phase. On top of that, teams will earn €2.1 million for every victory and €700,000 for a draw. The rewards rise significantly in the knockout rounds: clubs advancing to the round of 16 will receive €11 million, while those playing in the playoff tie before the round of 16 will pocket €1 million.

Reaching the quarterfinals will bring in another €12.5 million, while semifinalists will secure €15 million. The finalists at Budapest's Puskás Aréna on May 30, 2026, will receive €18.5 million, with the winner earning an additional €6.5 million in prize money.

UEFA also introduced a ranking bonus system for the league phase, with an initial value of €275,000 per position. The lowest-ranked club will take home that amount, while the highest-ranked side could earn up to €9.9 million extra.''

That's Champions League money and not Europa League money...Surely.
Yes that is UCL. Here is a link to Europa League prize money breakdown

Quote from: Greenreporter on August 24, 2025, 07:35:38 PMAnyone at the Teconnaught and an Riocht game? Was the ref card happy or were all deserved?
Teconnaught had 2 straight reds. Kingdom had keeper sent off with straight red and two players off on 2 yellows. All mostly deserved. Ref contributed to the poor game. Some refs just aren't cut out for senior football unfortunately.

And Drumgath only need a draw as their head to head will be equal and the have a much better points difference
It wouldn't actually get to a point difference as a draw would leave Drumgath on 16 points and Longstone on 14 points

We're is this game in?
In Longstone

It's bizarre how any countries right to identify a Palestinian state would scupper a trade deal to their largest trader. Just shows how deranged Trump really is

GAA Discussion / Re: Enhanced Rules
July 31, 2025, 11:41:06 AM
Imo the only ones I have an issue with is the 50m advancement and no time limit to advantage/forward mark advantage. 50m is too harsh and forward mark shouldn't allow a forward who decides to play on have two bites of the cherry.

One rule I would like to add is keeper should be allowed to take a quick kickout even if players are still inside 21. Obviously they can't touch it until the ball has gone out of the arc. Would speed up play even more
