Taken from the Kildare forum

Quote
Heard on KFM by the missus. The Kildare County Board have formally
requested a postponement of the Quarter Final versus Cork. Reason being
that if it goes ahead as scheduled (to suit the Cork FANS), it will be Kildare's
FOURTH game in 20 days or so. Only Tyrone would have matched this had their
match gone ahead next weekend, but as theirs versus the Dubs has been
pushed to Sat August 14th, they get an extra week's recovery.

Full marks to the County Board for pushing the welfare of OUR PLAYERS
ahead of the CORK FANS

QuoteOn the contrary, i'd like to say how great it was to see some of the leaps and high fetchs from Dermot Earley Yesterday. A joy to watch.

Indeed it was and a credit to the ref as well for ensuring a) the kick-outs were contested fairly and B) when a clean catch was made from either side he always rewarded the catcher.

Plus another postive I thought the Monaghan support were excellent yesterday and made it easy for the Fermanagh and Kildare folk to get behind them.

Down were absolute rubbish on Saturday, so please take bitterness elsewhere.

Quotebit unfair dinny, but having to watch that shite that passed for football yesterday between kildare and fermanagh. if you don't mind i'll take a kildare's man views on negativity with a picnh of salt. Do the general Gaa population a favour dinny and email your post to Mc Geeney and ask it is it possiblle for us to have something resembling decent football next Sunday. Has to be the most iroic post of the year, a Kildare man chastising others about negativity. Have a closer look to home. Is it too much to expect senior inter county footballers to kick the ball acuurately with one foot , handpass the ball correctly and score at least one point in the opening 25 mins? No the junior B club dublin semis are on in 2 weeks , lets put them in croke park.

Indiana, you still respond in the negative, I mean even your posts on Dublin are bloody negative.

It's nothing personal you're probably the best example of negativity here, go on say something positive for once.....you might feel good..

Can I nominate John Doyle

0-2 v Wicklow
0-8 v Cavan
1-6 v Limerick
0-5 v Fermanagh

MOTM performances vs Limerick and Cavan, stood up to the plate yesterday after a dreadful penalty miss.....at this moment in time best player in the country, well him or Aidan O'Mahony who was immense for Kerry yesterday....

Christ! Reading through this board one has to believe the Samaritans are doing a roaring trade, if Indiana is not whinging about how brutal/cynical/nasty/gay every team is, he's moaning about inequality in fixture settings, Dublin get a stand alone as wanted, still not happy, why all the negativity? Cheer up Dublin are going to win the All-Ireland, it won't be a bad All-Ireland or a good All-Ireland as such things are a fallacy, an All-Ireland is an All-Ireland and we'd all love one...

Don't mean to single out Indiana but he epitomises the current negativity sweeping through our media, puke this, brutal that and it's a malaise that is sweeping through the board, we are all becoming bitter angry people, come on lads a bit of positivity.... If you constantly run down a team in the media it affects a teams support, lack of support means lack of atmosphere, lack of atmosphere means lack of intensity, lack of intesity means lack of quality, lack of quality means crap football/hurling.....

So rather than constantly running down our games perhaps we should take a leaf out of the Premiership/AFL and promote positivity, no kid wants hear how rubbish his county is all he/she wants is a role model, a hero to look up to, when they get old and bitter they can just join this board and make up their own mind....

Nothing new there, the same was said about Limerick and Fermanagh. No pressure on Kildare, CP hoodoo off our back, Cork massive favs, ripe for a shock....

Probably the smallest thread ever...

Form line.......Kildare played well and beat a Limercik side that had Cork up a stick and should have won...

Cork  have played well for 1 half off football, very impressive half mind, did Kerry implode though?

We have nothing to fear, we could you know  :o

Firstly I would like to say again well done to Kildare, first 20 minutes aside we were by far the better of the two sides and fully deserved our win.

Secondly although I am sorry that we have adaopted a very defence orientated style and have lost our free flowing short-passing style which always provided for good entertainment however I am not sorry that we are now winning puke football games, quite simply you have to start winning before you can do anything in football. The Kerry Monaghan game had to be one of the most cynical games I ever witnessed and Kerry were by far the worst perpatrators yet they are held up as a shining light.

Thirdly I am a happy man, Kildare are still receiving no credit, todays victory will no doubt be put down as a result of Fermanaghs failings rather tham Kildares tenacious defence and a very high workrate. We missed the worst penalty in GAA History, hit the cross-bar and Pauric O'Neill should be shot for three of the worst attempts at point scoring. Despite that we still won comfortably, pulling up almost.

Fermanagh will rue those first 20, wide after wide, I gave up counting after 8 in a row. That is where they lost the game, allowing a very nervous Kildare side, you have to remember out terrible record in Croker, ease themselves into the game. Perhaps another key moment was Murphy's top class save..

Kildare are a work in porgress, we have a great chance against a cold Cork maybe this week we might get some credit, wouldn't bet on it mind.

We're really not a bad side, the live games just bring out the worst in us  :P

The future is very bright, the future is white.

QuoteThe petrol stations and car parks will be doubling their prices as the cash rich and football poor Lily white/flourbag horsey brigade come 4x4ing into town for the game!

The band-wagon is at full steam, hour long queues for tickets, Upper tiers and Hill now opened as well...expect Kildare to bring around 15K to 20K on Sunday....

QuoteKildares victory will have given great encouragement, but Fermanaghs battle hardened troops should win this as long as they start to hit over at least 30% of their scoring opportunities.

Think you're right, percentile will be need to be higher though, Kildare I think will score 1- 12 ish.....

Kildare 'could' cause an upset, but its a season too early yet imo

That's pretty much the consensus in Kildare too, Sunday is a bonus....

Enjoy it Dinny - though you will prob be on Nappy duty (hope all are well)

Nope, down in Wexford but have baby sitter booked and looking forward to hopefully two immense games with both victors wearing white  ;D

On Newstalk Tommy Carr tipped Fermanagh to win because Kildare are a bad side and were lucky to win against Limerick, I game he didn't even see and he wonders why he couldn't get a managerial job anymore, clown  ::)

John Maughan came out and said he hoped Fermanagh win as they contributed greatly to his pension fund and was very fond of his time there but he made all the right noises about momentum and recovery before tipping a draw  :o

So there you have it 20 min discussing the other 3 games and 1 min discussing the Kildare game, a national broadcaster me bollix....

QuoteSo Dinny, who will be favouritea here as I will basing my support on who is the bigger Underdog?

Fermanagh of course, they've beaten Derry and Monaghan and drew with the All-Ireland 3rd favourites Armagh. Kildare have lost to Wicklow and beat a poor Cavan and a now seemingly a vastly over-rated Limerick.

Actually if this game was anywhere other than Croke Park I would have made us as favourites, momentum and freshness but Croke is a terrible venue for us, last won there in 2005 against Westmeath, since then we have lost Laois, to the Biffos in the Blood Sub game, Donegal and Meath last year and Wicklow this year, throw in an u21 Leinster final replay and it really has become a theatre of nightmares for Kildare supporters.

Fermanagh are well organised and committed, if Kildare can break down there defence with quick ball in I think we can get enough scores to win as although our defence is fragile Fermangh's lack of a serious free taker means we could get away with been more physical than we normally are, if only it wasn't in CP  :-[
