I would hardly call Inter a great side, and fair dues his goal against Chelsea proves his pedigree when it comes to the big games.  I would hardly call Everton a top team, no matter how big a match its regarded as - he was anonymous against United in the 2 games, and also against Arsenal.  Fair enough if he didn't score, but to perform like he did shows him in a different light than that which Liverpool fans see him in when he scores against Derby!

Ha.  A bit unnecessary but I suppose I'm just being a bad loser.

Im just pointing out that last years tie against Milan was spoilt for United as they were hit badly by injuries.  It made Milan look the superior side, which obviously you will agree they were. 

For the first year of a five year contract in a new league, different language, lifestyle etc i think its a pretty handsome return.....

I thought that the leagues in England and Spain both played with one football, 2 sets of goal-posts and 11 starting players on each side?  Lifestyle?  Is there a nightclub or something in the corner of some Spanish pitches?

I know they did but this has a similar sound to it, thumping Roma and preparing to play an out of form European heavyweight........Lets hope for a similar outcome.

A bit different from last year as United were unfortunate to lose Neville, Ferdinand and Vidic for the Milan game.  A makeshift back 4 that had probably never played together were all over the place.  Be some fun to see how Liverpool would fare if Stevie G ever missed a period through injury.

I didn't mention Chelsea.  1 goal against the big sides is hardly a great return for the money invested in Torres.

Do most of ye feel Armagh have replaced Derry as the aul enemy or is it just that I used to know more Derry fans than Armagh fans.

I feel we could have a cracker game on Saturday night although there could be snow according to the forecast.

I'll never forget driving home from the match in Clones in 95 with another Tyrone lad and 2 Derry lads.

Definitely Derry, but as mentioned its due to where you're from in the county.  I will never forget the game in 95, I was only about 12 but two things stand out:- The burger was rotten and the Derry fans slabbering and looking to start a riot because they were taught a lesson.  Was good craic as a few of my Da's brothers were with us and they are Derry men as they unfortunately live a few miles on the wrong side of the border out the longland road towards Claudy.  The old boy can be seen wearing both jereys, depending on who's doing well.

I wouldn't say its premature.  This is a very strong squad, and it is also a very young one.  This team will hopefully improve even more in the next year or two.

Ferguaon took over United in November 86, when they were 2nd bottom.

Ferguson took over a near bottom of the table United side and transformed them.  Benitez took over a top 4 side and at present they are struglling to maintain that position - great progress.

What about Ben Thornley aswell, was hyped up but unlucky with injuries. I remember Erik Nevland, now at Fulham, being proclaimed as the next big thing after he scored 3 hat-tricks in succession for United while on trial.
