Some classics ..

I have to find myself.
You deserve someone better.
i just dont want to be in a relationship right now, but if i did it would be with you.
You never know what the future may hold but for now, I need to be alone.
I need to work on myself. I can't be in love with you if I don't love myself.
I feel we have grownapart, also it smells like something has crawled up your beaver and died... ;-)
its not u its me. i hate u. i just cant stand annoying people. and im not asking u to change im asking u to go away.
I've decided it's time to move on. I will always care about you, but I have my wife and kids to think of.
I realized that i like you more as a (brother/sister) .
You look fat in those jeans.
I no longer see the 'promise' i once did.

General discussion / Re: Baby Monitors
July 28, 2009, 10:03:39 AM
We got a baby monitor that has a thermometer on it and it beeps when the temperature reached over 22 degrees, apparently that is the ideal temperature for babies (not a video one).  Was a complete nightmare, on a reasonable hot day it is impossible to keep the temperature under 22 unless you have a fan on full time in the room and there was no way to turn the beep thing off.  It's bad enough getting no sleep with a new baby crying all the time but when the monitor is going beep beep as well every 2 minutes there is only 1 place for it (out the window).

General discussion / Re: Charity buckets
July 27, 2009, 01:25:21 PM
I don't mind the buckets on the counters, no one has to give anything to them, you can never be sure it actually goes to a charity but you can never be sure anyhow.

I went to our work canteen the other day and got lunch, I gave the woman a fiver and it came to something like 3.90 and just as she gave me my change she said 'we are doing a collection for cancer research (or something else) would you like to donate something'.  I hadn't actually noticed but there was a collection thing beside the counter.  There was a queue of people behind me and I didn't want to  seem like a complete c^&t and say no so I just put my change in the thing, it wasn't the money at all but it annoyed me that she had put pressure to get the money from me in that way.

What's the story here.
Surely something major has happened.  How could lowly St Pauls win away to Drumgath?????

love DFs theory, Oxygenitius  :D

It's not rocket science lads, holiday season and all teams will be short a few, some more than others. Most teams accept it and play the hand they're dealt. (Most teams)

or one player scores 2-10 on his return, uummm let me see, wonder what the other teams will do when playing them

Ye can stick two or three players on him if ye want or just stick scrappy on him and hope the both of them get sent off, we're just glad he's back. Couple more long termers due back soon so we might be a bit more competitive in the run in, whether it'll be enough to get out of the bottom four, only time will tell. Hell we might even keep it kicked out to ye on the 26th or the 3rd or whenever all your lads are back from their holliers  ;)

Scrappy - discipline issues? Never...

P.S - Was just nosying on the Dromara website there. In 1990 they beat Ballymartin in the Final of the IFC. Dromara were a Division 3 side that year.
The following year, 1991, they beat Rostrevor in the 1st Round of the SFC before going down narrowly to Downpatrick in the last 8, whilst still being a Division 3 team. Very interesting.

They did well.  They went from playing in the reserve league to mid table division 2 in a few years and won the Intermediate championship as well.  Donal 'Duck' Bell was player manager of them then, he managed Mayobridge when they won there first league title since the 50's not long after he left Dromara.

Like someone says earlier no one can be 100% sure unless they where there.  Could Stanley Kubrik create a credible 10 minute movie in a studio in 1969 that looked real, probably IMO.  There are plenty of reasons to fake the moon landing.

Reason's to fake

Moon landing too difficult technically in 1969 and more expensive than expected.
Cold war, proving they where better than the russians.
Distraction from the Vietnam war.
Kennedy promised to do it by end of the decade.

Reason not to fake

They had the technology and the know how to go to the moon so no need to fake it.

There is no need to insult anyone for having a different point of view.

I am definitely wary of charities and wonder what percentage of money makes a difference but I still give some money to charities like shelter, you never know what is round the corner, e.g.  you lose your job and the wife kicks you out.  There is only so long you can kip on a mates floor before they get sick looking at you.  There is a lot of charities that do a lot of important work.
I think if you look at what they hold back in administration costs that you might change your mind.

Personally, I don't give a penny to anyone who shakes a collection tin at  me, sends me spam in the mail (e or snail) or otherwise tries to get my hard-earned cash unless I agree with their aims and objectives and the cash I am donating goes to the intended charity 100% - hence it's only local ones I would contribute to.

All charities have to have some administritive costs so I don't think it is realistic to expect 100% to go to helping people.  I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of directors in certain charities who get well paid to do not much.  I'm too lazy to find out exactly what percentage goes to staff wages etc. but e.g.  Help the aged or Childline do important jobs.

apparently there was a row over a free kick for glenn and one of the ardglass men kicked a glenn man and it all went off from there!

Ardglass are nut cases.  They where winning by about 20 points against St Paul's on Friday night when St Paul's scored a goal that they thought should have been a free out for a foul on the keeper and they all surrounded the ref and started calling him all the names under the sun.  The ref would have been justified if he had just walked off they where giving him so much abuse.  They won the match 6-17 to 1-6, I wouldn't have liked to see what they would have been like if he gave a last minute penalty against them when they where 2 points up.

General discussion / Re: How to fix the economy

5 million (people) * 1 million (pounds) = A lot of money.  Could I get the million as well that would be 1 more job someone else could have.  I promise to go to the pub every day which would help the brewing industry which has been hit hard by this recession.

Maybe the daughter f%^ked off with the money then claimed she threw out the mattress not knowing there was money in it.

Are we supposed to unscramble??

A man went into the side of a house to light his pipe and out came a big black dog and started to bark at him so he took out his knife and cut the tail of it

Still doesn't make much sense.

His open letter is all well and good but he could have summed it all up by

Dear Aston Villa Supporter,

I've had 12 good years at Aston Villa but the owners at Man City have more money than sense and are going to pay me £130,000 per WEEK.  I'd be a mug to turn that down.

What is it with this nonesense of trying to publish championship fixtures and results in Irish? Apart from the incorrect spelling of many club names it denies information to those who have no Irish (that is most of us).
Thus the attempt fails to promote our games and also fails to promote the language, and is at a stroke contrary to two objectives of the GAA.
I've lost count of the many times some GAA neighbours from Armagh have asked me about senior championship games in Down they want to attend but couldn't find the fixtures in the paper.
By all means have the dual language information in match programmes but this is silly silly meaningless counter-productive stuff.

If your friend from Armagh is looking to go to a senior championship game they quite likely want to see Mayobridge (Droichead Mhaigh Eo), Burren (Boireann), Kilcoo (Cill Chua), Bryansford (Ath Bhriain), Loughinisland (Loch an Oilean) .. it's not exactly rocket science working out the translations.

Terrorism was ruled out almost immediately, terrible wait for the families now.

Why? Because they have conclusive proof it wasn't or so as not to scare the horses?
I thought the fact that there was a message sent from the plane on more than one occasion would mean that it was hardly a bomb.

There was an automated message sent when the plane was lost from the radar, there was no mayday from the pilots.  Something happened to knock it out of the sky pretty quick.  Even if all the engines failed the plane would have kept gliding for 1/2 an hour with plenty of time for the pilots to send out a mayday signal.
